Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands from time to time!
I have owned boots for decades, but to be honest I have owned them as functional pieces of footwear. It wasn't until early 2020 when COVID struck that I started online shopping for boots to an obsessive degree. I love the aesthetic of boots and I love finding out more about how they are made. I now own an insane number of boots, and one day I may sell some of them (just not right now).

Great to see a long term update like this, Teik. Your reviews and impression videos of boots are already so thorough, and an update vid like this just takes your attention to detail to a whole other level when compared to a lot of the other boot channels on KZread. Grant Stone boots already could probably easily sell for $100 more than they do, and at $285 USD these things are practically a steal, just unrivaled value at that price point. I bought a pair myself after watching this video, and they should arrive in the mail today. Keep up the great work, we notice and appreciate the effort you put in to your videos!

Vegetable tanned leather is usually less water resistant than chrome tanned leather. This is why many footwear companies ( British makers especially) tend only to use veg tanned leather for the linings and insole etc. The other side of the coin is that the veg tanned leather is better inside as chrome tanned leathers can cause irritation if in contact with the skin for long periods (or through thin socks even). Regarding Dainite, footwear, manufacturers can order different off the shelf rubber compounds for these soles from the company (or even have custom compounds made) so the hardness can vary. From experience the boots made in warmer climates like Spain often seem to have harder Dainite soles (which will be softer in warmer conditions). These though can often be very hard underfoot in below freezing temperatures and can be quite loud to walk in. This can also make them slip more easily and I suspect is the source of many online complaints about Dainite being "lethal".

Based on your reviews, I’ve just pulled the trigger on Diesels that are both on sale and have a bonus 15% discount for Memorial Day. I got them in 11.5 D and I also bought a pair of Diesels used on eBay in 11E. Sizing is always confusing but I’m looking forward to dialling these in and comparing them with my Trumans which are great. I live two hours away from Viberg but they’re out of my price range. It’s a shame because I have to pay import fees for all the other brands but they end up being around third of the Viberg price. Keep up the good work, sir, I look forward to your videos.

Very cool. I have a pair and I try to wear these fairly regularly. These are tough as nails. Your pair looks great !. This is such a cool make up. Happy I picked a pair up in the Brass boot too. Your pair looks fantastic, better colour than after a Canadian winter.

I just got a pair of Diesel's in Dune CXL and it is super nice. QC is bar none. I had to pull out some glue marks in the welt but that was ok. Otherwise, it was perfect. These were my second GS boot. My first pair was a pair of Ottawa's in Crimson CXL a different boot but so far my favorite. I wanted the black CXL Ottawa's but there is nothing in my size. :-( but that will be the next boot that I will purchase aside from the Honey Shell Ottawa's.

Another great video Teik, thank you. I am noticing my heel cap is wearing pretty quickly on my diesels, I obviously have some heel drag. I know not to let it get to the leather but is into the second rubber layer ok? I also wanted to ask you about the sole , on the diesels how far do you let it get into the thread? Value your opinion as you have so many great boots.

  • @Bootlosophy

Don’t let it get to the second rubber layer. Wearing the thread is ok - they are glued and double (internal) lock stitched.

Try conditioning your boots once a week until you get them to darken. Also, leaving them near a window in the sun can help too

The lack of pullup is surprising to me. It seems like you really need to abuse the leather to get patina.
