Bacho used to compete for Georgia. At his age and the stacked talent across the 81/90 kilo division he probably couldn't achieve selection. Also I believe he is getting great financial support in the UAE to train.

The kawazu gake is something we refer to as 'grape vining' in the UK. It blues right leg/ the attacking leg that is the problem here not his left leg that is supporting (you said blues left leg, but possibly you meant whites left leg which is the one being attacked). Instead of rotating he has wrapped his leg and foot around at a dangerous angle and reeped with the top of his foot not the underside. This is very rare, but puts a lot of pressure on the shin bone and knee as they cannot bend that way. If you freeze it just after they land you can see the position I am refering too but it is tricky as there are lots of legs in the way! I was trying to think of a better way to describe it. The thigh/upper leg of tori pushes ukes upper leg backwards, whilst the ankle of tori (blue) is pulling lower part of ukes leg forward, this is where the pressure on the knee comes from, as the knee cannot bend that way.

yes the UAE population is very tiny, most of the population that identifies as local are from yeman and iran so the population is even smaller than 1 million and there is no amazing talent for judo like in Russia, even football teams and teams from other sports come from different countries

At 09:25 you called the technique Koshi Garuma. Could it possibly be more of a Tsuri Goshi with the way he's reaching over the shoulder and down the back to the belt? Please take this as intended, a discussion point and question not a negative comment or criticism at all...🙏. You certainly know more than me about this and I'm no expert! 😉 Your videos are amazing. I really hope you earn what you deserve from monetizing them as they're the best Judo videos on you tube and must take you a long time to edit together. Much respect!!!

I also see more a tsuri goshi or even some type of hane goshi (because of using the leg to end the projection) too. It's a weird configuration after that many rotations before launching the projection, but I believe he's using the hip and the leg.

I absolutely agree with the head-dive rule as it is. You can't say some head-dives are ok and others not. What you'll get then is a lot of young judoka trying head-dives, because they see their idols do it, without knowing the difference or how to properly execute the techique and end up with a broken neck or worse. I was referee once when a judoka head-dived and broke his neck, not something I want to experience again.

  • @JudoHighlights2015

I think there are some head dives that are OK and others that are not. Youngsters shouldn't be allowed to do it though imo.

A lot of those gulf states will pay for imported talent, as their native populace aren't particularly athletically-inclined. It's even easier now with if there are Russian nationals banned under the Russian flag but still want to find a way to compete (esp the Caucasians, they seem to often compete under another flag just to get a look in).

@@JudoHighlights2015 I believe this falls in the grey area of "variations" hehe. Sometimes I would put the leg way behind predicting and attempt of the opponent to jump over. So, in my mind, I immediately recognized as a seoi otoshi. And I can definitely be wrong 😀 Arigato!

should you culk the sport so that it will be PC?? i mean the rules are ridiculous . but the real reason would be that judo itself is ridiculous sport. head dive rule? if you are on the street and your life in on the line? head dive? but you may argue that its only a sport, but that would only make the sport water-down and have no meaning from the true judo. i mean sport like tennis can be dangerious if not paying attention but tennis itself is not dangerious and can be a sport that is fair that depends on the technique of the winner... so in conclusion, either make sport of judo real, and dangerious or water it down so that even children can play.. which would render judo useless...
