    Wow thanks so much, yes my goal was to show a multi angle, multicam approach to my videos to enhance the experience..... along with including some background stories etc. Yeah all (or most) my brewdays will include a Part 2.The reason being is that Grain to Glass episodes use to take too long to publish. So I'll be adding the bourbon chips at the end of primary fermentation. I basically pour the contents of that jar into a hop container over the fermenter, put on the hop cap and drop it into the beer for about a week..... tasting every second day or so 👍🍻

    What exactly was the issue you encountered?

  • @globalscott5864

    @globalscott5864

    2 жыл бұрын

    @The BeardyMan Craft Beers OK. After finishing the sparge and the G40 element was ramping up to the boil, it got to 94°C then just stopped and could not be restarted. Had to emptied 40+ litres of near boiling wort into my old kettles to finish... Not the end of the world, the pump still worked so an easy transfer and lucky i still had the kettles. Cleaned the G40, filled with 20 litres of water... still nothing. The control panel says it was heating, but the element wasn't. Easy conclusion. Element is faulty. Making the unit faulty. Replace it. But no, and this is my issue with them. When it comes to getting the problem assessed, this is where GF believe they can remotely determine the mechanical cause of failure, but without looking at the unit? Impossible in view as it's a mechanical unit. The controller is wireless, but the unit is mechanical. Know any mechanics that can fix an mechanical problem from a different city without looking at? See my point? I offered to get it to them... again no. I was constantly fed some BS about the team are looking at it... but how exactly without looking at it. I sent them plenty of screen shots from the app, even access to my brew sessions. Even the brew shop i bought it off couldn't believe how terrible their response was and stated it should be replaced, but Grainfather said they would refuse to credit them of it was swapped. Wow! Local brew shops are being screwed over, they don’t even make any money off these things... I stand by my view that their after market support is terrible. Grainfather support (Sarah) incorrectly advised me to remove the base and manually reset it, problem is, the G40 has an auto-reset function. So even their support people have no clue. I am embarrassed for them being a kiwi company that i admired for a long time. No one wins when warranty claims are disputed by the manufacturer... especially a cut and dry one like this and to refuse the local brew ship as well.... go figure. As an avid brewer i love the equipment, the G40 is awesome to brew with, i was pumped to get it (despite paying for it only a week after it was released and then had to wait 3½ months for it to arrive, again, ok). Just the day before it crapped out, i was telling the local brew shop owner how much i loved it!!! I even coupled it with the glycol chiller and 4x fermenter pros, pressure transfer system, all up, well over $6700 worth... that's a nod to the quality of the equipment (I don't care the element broke, it happens, but the following response is what counts)... After this, i will never view this company in the same light again. Only after the threat of direct legal action today (yes, i engaged a lawyer and was willing to pay to make them pay up) miraculously the already established foregone conclusion was reached and they agreed to a warranty claim. Like i say, buyer beware.

    Man that sounds so unfortunate, really have no clue why it went that way when Grainfather have the 3 Year Guarantee in place on their products. Personally I've never had any issues with the G30 and expecting/hoping the same for the G40. I've only had one brew on it so far and expect it to serve me well for many years to come just like my G30. To be honest I've never looked into what's covered under a guarantee in general but that should be something all companies outline and agree to for products/services. Grainfather have a great reputation, I know of two other guys who had issues with the G30 and G70 both of which were resolved by Grainfather. I'm gonna have a look over the guarantee policy to see what is covered under warranty.
