I was in the departure lounge at Heathrow back in 2002/3 for the 7am Aberdeen flight and Souness was sitting on his own with a coffee. I plucked up the courage and went over and said to him how much I admired his football etc. He was the most polite and approachable bloke you could imagine. In my view a true superstar and a proper bloke. Tks for the memories sir.

He had the same attitude that Roy Keane had at United, his influence on and off the pitch was immense. I remmember reading how Michael Robinson recalled how, in a league cup match against Brentford, Souness was going to each player in turn, urging them on, "you would have thought we were playing Barcelona", said Robinson, "we had the attitude, a belief that ran through every player in the club, that said, if we played poorly, then anyone could beat us, if we played well, then no one could beat us". There were several factors that started the clubs decline, but in my opinion, selling Souness was a massive mistake, he was the first dommino to fall.

Favourite story by Souness was about his last LFC game - European Cup final against Roma, no training no team talk at all. Meal before the game Joe Fagin stands up & taps glass…. “Big game tonight boys, big game, Roma are a good team, but they can’t be better than us……can’t be better than us…….anyway bus leaves at 5:30 make sure your on it” and that was the team talk done 😂

what a brilliant interview! massive respect to a great player and a great bloke, sadly i'm not surprised graeme is leaving sky, his generation don't fit in with the way football is going, the game has changed/is changing massively from his time and not for the better, wasn't it graeme who made the it's a man's game comment recently? something of a death knell today, i used to love the game but i've fallen out of love with it now, in fact i loathe much about its modern incarnation, much of what graeme said i agree with as he appears to think the same as i do, absolute breath of fresh air, honest, forthright and funny, no wonder the woke sky effectively wanted rid of him

Correct on all counts. Football is getting worse and worse. The money men have ruined it. I've been a football fanatic since I was 7 years old. In the last 5-10 years I dont have passion for it anymore. I only watch Liverpool. Have cancelled BT sport. Knee taking, rainbow bootlaces, women commentators, and diversity hires have put me right off it. Not my game anymore.

I commented on why he was forced out. I was a footballer, my son was a rugby player both Union and League. The parents knew that they were watching children far more committed than their idols. It’s a sad society that we live in.

It seems in today's world with what sky sports did to him because he said football was a man's game which it is they asked him to go end of his contract it shows in today's world been honest and blunt is unacceptable which is pathetic. Telling it how it is straight and honest is best way but in this political correct tick the boxes woke world where most people are easily offended is just destroying this world. I always remember as a kid i walked down what was called "Boot Boy Alley" in Middlesbrough and someone had spray painted on the wall "Souness is God" then one day at School the teacher was talking about religeon and i told the teacher what id seen then she replied "Well those Yobbos at Ayresome Park would think that wouldnt they " Souness and Jack Charlton are the held in very high esteem in Middlesbrough UTFB

I was watching a big game on sky, two top teams, world class players, tight game, lots of niggle, highly pressurised, bundles of skill and aggression, Souey and the girl who played for Arsenal ladies were co presenting, presenter went to her first for first half analysis, before Graham Souness !!!, we really do live in a clown world.

When the phenomenon Sir Alex Fergusons retired it was the end of the manager being the boss. Jim McClean who managed Dundee Utd and was Fergies big rival when Alex managed Aberdeen. Jim McLean, like Fergie, was a dictator and their players would run through walls for them

Have you seen a picture of my wife, I’m definitely punching.. What a compliment in this environment. Souness, the most effective player, the best leader and the last truly hard top level player. Strutting cockerel 👍🏻

He took it well, but that was an extremely stupid question asking about mortality because he has turned 70. Moronic really. As if there's not plenty of questions you could ask a legend like Graeme Souness about life in football since the 1970's.

I will miss his punditry. I like that he calls the game as he sees it, regardless of who is playing. I hate biased commentary, where the pundit can never say anything negative about his former club.
