This has happened plenty of times down the years. Ozil and Aubameyang. When they signed new deals on double their wages they immediately downed tools. Alexis Sanchez when he joined Man Utd and was on 400k a week. The difference between Rashford last season compared to this season is world's apart. Not just in terms of performance but also effort and work rate. Same with Casemiro. It's like two different players.

Look at his league goals, not a great return for his lauded best season ever. Rather he stat padded against Danish fishermen in the Thursday league and domestic cups so all this 30 goal nonsense was a smokescreen.

Souness on Rashford "he's had two good years out of the five years he's been in the first team".... try 8 years. He made his debut in 2016. There's a bit of a Lingard situation with Rashford in that people think he's still relatively new to the senior team. He's seen off numerous managers with his utterly abject performances yet dumplings like Souness still trot out this line that he "has all the ability in the world"... no he doesn't! He's never had the technique of a top level player, he swings his legs like golf clubs when shooting which is why he always scuffs shots high and wide. He can't dribble, can't play two touch and can't pass either. It's really weird this narrative that he's a world class player just with a bad attitude. He's a bang average Welbeck tribute act with an awful attitude.

And I thought I was brutally honest. 😅 But you know what? Hindsight is 20/20 and looking back, I really can’t argue with this assessment at all. Never felt he was skilled enough or had the temperament to be a winger but he vanishes more down the middle. He’s had more than a fair chance and I’d be fine with him going. The players just aren't hungry enough. I'm a Leicester fan myself, and I'll always remember Rooney's performance in the game where Leicester were losing 3-1, and ended up winning 5-3. Just go and watch him during that game, when their losing, he's still putting in maximum effort, racing back, shouting and being aggressive towards his team mates. This is what their missing, there's no aggression, no hunger and no leadership.

We know Rooney is 100% correct about certain players faking or exaggerating injuries to dodge responsibility, pressure and scrutiny that happens when things aren’t going well on a team. I’d bet my savings that Rashford is number one culprit. His cousin, Sancho is the same. The problem with Man United is very very British in nature, and until someone comes in and says this nonsense stops now and clears out these overpaid wimpy players, no manager will ever succeed at United again. Man United made a catastrophic mistake by firing Jose Mourinho rather than get rid of viruses like Pogba, Martial and Rashford. And then we went and signed another toxic British bluffer, Sancho. And sadly, Garnacho is already showing signs of a player that might go in that same direction. He’s liking Real Madrid players’ posts and calling them “best player in the world” bla bla bla. I will celebrate the day those lightweights Rashford and Sancho leave United.

I feel for any manager that has to work with the players we've had at the club for so long. Rashford HAS to leave first. His malaise off the ball throughout his entire career is a stamp on where we are.

You can't in one breath say the tail wags the dog and then in the next blame the current manager for a culture he has inherited from previous managers. He tried to deal with it and has been panned for it (Sancho) and accused of terrible man management. You need to be consistent. Acknowledge the toxic culture and back the manager to clear those players out as an absolute priority. Man Utd will not be successful again until that squad is decimated and rebuilt properly by a manager with the backing of the board to bolster his authority. It's utterly shameful how the Glazers have destroyed Fergie's legacy.

I don't care what profession you are in, if you hand someone an insane contract that runs 4-5 years that requires no accountability if you suddenly down tools, what do you think is going to happen? Jordan's comments on the 1970s are simply wrong. True he took them down, but Tommy Doc built a really good team. Won the FA Cup (when that trophy really mattered) and came close to winning the league. If he had stayed beyond 1977 I am certain United would have won the league by the end of that decade.

Very well said Graham Souness, when he mentioned that you have to question the coaching staff and the manager, if they're happy to except the lack of effort from players. It's that simple. This is why I don't trust ETH for next season. He is forever making wrong decisions, and he appears to be a coward. This will fail Manchester United
