Good move by the Maple Leafs acquiring Anthony Stolarz in Free Agency?

I would like to believe the Leafs’ free-agent acquisition of Stolarz will work wonders this coming season, but considering he has yet to, at any point in the NHL, start at least 30 regular-season games, I have to wonder if using just him and Joe Woll will be sufficient to get through the 82 games the Leafs will have to play after the first weekend of October but before the 2025 postseason. It may be the Leafs will need to use 2 or more non-Stolarz non-Woll goalies to get through the regular season but just who those goalies will be, or even how GOOD they will be, are still TBD.

​@@wainber1Hildeby is a beast but needs atleast another AHL season however if needed he could come up and play a few games and they re-signed Matt Murray for super cheap 1 year deal to try and revive his career so if he stays healthy I'm guessing he would be the first man up if injuries occur

​​⁠To @bradybeijes3232’s claim, goalie thickness of this Leaf team appears to be thinner than it looks on PuckPedia, perhaps similar to that of the Canucks two seasons ago behind a Thatcher Demko after that main goalie of the BC team had needed to miss almost 3 months due to an injury stint.

@@wainber1 6 Goalies, 3 who can play at the NHL level and 1 who can if needed, I wouldn't say they are thin in net, however all the Goalies are injury prone so they do require some luck or else they risk having to rush Hildebeasts development. I'm guessing they still try to sign one more goalie as depth on a minimum, possibly bring back Campbell if he's open to it, but I won't be surprised if they go into the season like this either and then trade for a goalie later if it becomes necessary (possibly Robertson and Reaves or Timmins for cap purposes)

@@wainber1 I personally would have preferred the leafs bring back Reimer but at the end of the day we don't know, it might just be a case of Goalies not wanting to play for the leafs due to the media/pressure that comes with it. But I'm not Convinced Stolarz at 2 Million was the best option.

They needed a backup….probably best to get one from the cup champions. Hopefully the Great Woll of Toronto comes through.

I hope Woll will come through even with stamina a question for him, Tony Stolarz and Matt Murray.

A solid move by the Leafs . The deeper question is will Woll be able to stay healthy enough to be a true number 1? He has the talent to be a number 1 so we’ll see .

It's about being able to play. Woll is not a starter. Not a starter you can rely on. That's more Leaf Copium.

@@KohPhanganSummer that’s my fear as well . In short intervals Woll seems good . But I also wonder if he has the ability to be a true starter . I personally do not trust him and his injury history is concerning.

It's about as good as you can expect to land for a back up, but was a back up really what they need most? Woll hasn't proven himself and they've done nothing to get better up top. Credit where it's due, they did well enough on the back end, but if nothing is guaranteed in net and they haven't gotten better up top, has the marginal improvement on D really going to see them leap the other three playoff divisional rivals? I can't say any of them have regressed significantly. The core four cap crunch limits options again.

If he can replicate the numbers he had with Florida,then it was a great signing.

Damn Lindsey is gorgeous. Who cares about the Leafs.

He was my choice of the goalies available on the free agent market. He’s going to have a breakout season and at $2m, A+. Side note, how good does Lindsay look… daaaamn!

I feel it’s a great signing , let’s see if the Leafs can get out of the first round .

That's not accurate. Players like Webber will be a Marlie (no waivers) and Murray will be waived and likely unclaimed just like Jones was last season.

Sign Shorsey. Leafs need someone to set the tone. However, I hear he can't push when he sh*ts.

If anyone believes that Woll is a starter is also planning the parade from this summers moves. Get rid of Marner and a couple of other players for a solid goalie and lets get some more D as well.

@@KohPhanganSummer Running 9 D 9 Forwards? How many Defenders you need? also why would you complain about needing more D and then propose we trade our best Defensive forward? Mitch is Pricey but unless we got a good offer trading him doesn't make the leafs better, offensively or defensively.

@@bradybeijes3232 I dunno whether the Leafs will trade Marner but man do they need to beef up the quality of a bottom-6 forward group whose members include Ryan Reaves, David Kampf, Calle Jarnkrok, Connor Dewar and Pontus Holmberg.

​@@wainber1no they don't, they need to give the young guys a chance to earn a roster spot, they can't afford to sign more guys like Kampf when they have better players Scratched or in the juniors/ on the Marlies.
