    thanks! Very useful. For me, the best tip is what you said about only scramble up stuff that you're gonna be able to scramble back down. So I'd recommend to take a look back every while to assess whether we are going too far .I miss a comment about helmet, specially when rock falling risk is expected.

    Excellent - I'd recommend this to any beginner. My only comment would be on safety kit. Particularly if you're on your own, a mobile isn't a reliable way to call in Search and Rescue if you become immobilised - reception in the hills is too patchy. Ideally you'd carry a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon). This is a lightweight and highly reliable way to call for help. It's not a trivial purchase, but well worth it for peace of mind if you're in the hills regularly. And of course, leave word of your route and expected return time with a responsible person.

    I don't give a gentle tug. I try to replicate my full force that I will be using to step up. For me, this is crucial!

    Lauren :) some would say common sense.... good that your naturally aware and considering the what iff’s? Trying to teach my son and nephews this aspect, but he is just getting to the age of really getting it.

    This in not the same as the AMERICAN Yosemite decimal scale . This is ( american ) climbing .
