I love this carseat. I would recommend an infant car seat for babies younger than 8 months just because of the convenience of it. This one you can’t take it out easily, doesn’t detach from the base like an infant only carseat. My daughter was 1 when I got mine and I still love it since then. Another thing about it is that their legs can get tight when facing back.

We just bought this seat for our 6 month old son. I took out the baby pads and extended the headrest a bit to line up the straps to his shoulders. I find that the back padding is pretty deep compared to the headpads as he appears to be slouching quite a bit when i tighten down the harness.

I've got two in my husband 2013 elantra both rear facing a 9 month old and a 3 1/2 year old. 18 and 30lbs we love ours.

I used this as soon as we got out of the hospital. Apparently, it took awhile coz the nurses are not familiar with this model. it was a new model then. They are more familiar with the travel system. They were trying to separate everything lol. I repeatedly told them this is different than what they're used to. They were like, how are you gonna take her in and out of the car for doctors appointment, etc.. Maybe I should've gotten the travel system but we want something that we can use for a long time. The hospital allowed us to go home with this car seat even if they are not familiar with it. They checked youtube and google. They had to walk us out of the hospital, check if the car seat is all good in the car, etc... overall, I love this car seat. My little one is turning 1 next month.

Gen De Guzman in the hospital where i had my baby, they didn't help me they said there are to many car seats know a days that are so different that is not a requirement and aren't allowed to help us Imagine me and my husband trying to put that thing in, next time well have it in before hand

To loosen the harness do you push the tab down or pull it up? On the contender 65 you can pull it or push it and I really like that feature since it is easier to pull up.

We have this seat. My only complaint is that we can't seem to use the head cushion because our baby is tall enough that the head cushion stem barely fits into the elastic and is constantly getting pulled out. It also pushes her head forward when it is in.

I have a 3 yr old grandson that undoes his chest piece ALL the time. It is not hard at all for him. I am searching now for an alternative locking piece as added security. Very disappointed about this. I purchased this car seat because of the this review. So please use caution to those considering this car seat.

How do you lengthen the shoulder straps? I need more slack but can't figure out how to do it. This seat is too hard to figure out.

There is a strap above the recline lever. Put a finger under the fabric past the strap and you will find a button. Press the button while pulling on the harness. To tighten the harness, pull on the strap above the recline lever.

Oh no, that isn't good! Make sure the straps are right at her shoulders and tighten them by pulling on the tightening strap at the bottom. It should feel very tight and you aren't supposed to be able to pinch excess strap at all. Also sounds like the chest clip need to be at armpit level. Hope that helps!

I am just so confused on how the straps adjust? When you pull the top to extend your straps still seem long. When i do it they are tight. Is there a lock or something?

Rear facing till age 2 is a bit tight. He is short for his age and he’s leg can’t really stretch. I can’t imagine at age 3?

Yes it should fit! and yes, the middle is the safest place for a carseat! when installing, install with baby out so you can get a really tight fit! hope that helps!

We're potty training and my daughter has an accident in her seat. I took it apart and threw everything but the straps in the wash and wiped down the base as best I could but it still smells. Is there a way to clean under the seat better? It seems like it's coming from under the reclining area.

I used this car seat in my Hyundai Santa Fe and now in a Toyota Avalon and it got comfortably in both. I am 5 feet tall though so it didn't bother me to have it behind me, my 6foot tall husband couldn't have it behind him though.

Laurie Navarrete This is a carseat that you would not remove. If you want to be able to take a car seat in, you would need an infact bucket seat. Or you could use this and then transfer baby to a stroller or wear baby in a carrier such as an ergo or wrap. hope that helps!

Strollers and baby carriers are the go-to in our house. Both my boys have had car seats like this, which we parents absolutely love! The babies simply enjoyed the freedom and space to stretch when moved to the stroller or carrier instead of being stuck in an infant car seat. Best of luck!

Yes, we used these seats from the beginning. We had an infant carrier type cat seat too, but almost immediately fully switched to this type of seat when it became available. Hope this helps you.

Absolutely not. Graco does NOT allow LATCH borrowing on seats with premium LATCH connectors only on basic LATCH connectors. That being said the vehicle also needs to allow borrowing. If you are LATCH borrowing you need to stop. Use the seat belt in the center our move to the sides.

My daughter is a petite 20 month old. She hates this car seat. It's a battle to get her in. The waist strap seems to dig into her legs as it does not actually follow her waistline like her former britax car seat did. Has anyone else had this discomfort issue? I've had her in the #3 position. Should I try 1 or 2? I'm about to return the seat (only had it 2 weeks) but every review says this one is the best. Any help/advice is appreciated.

Is your child still in this seat and how does she like it now?

I just bought this car seat last week for my granddaughter. This car seat while it is endorsed is a major struggle. She is 8 mos old. Trying to find the right way to strap her in has been difficult not to mention trying to get her in and out. I am very disappointed with this car seat.

It is absolutely insane how Gracos manual is so confusing I have this car seat rear facing so I want to turn it forward facing and I just can't figure it out and there is no videos if anyone can help I would appreciate instruction

The latch strap does not come out, finally figured it out with the help of local PD (I didn’t have time to get appointment to see the certified car seat installer) The latch strap is under that metal bar on one side rather then trying to remove the strap you SLIDE it up to forward facing spot! Look at the foreword facing spot on the side with the bar - it’s the same bar as the lower rear facing opening - just push the latch part into the lower hole and slide it up to the top hole. Hope this help someone else

You can just have to reposition them to the forward facing mode the instructions should be on the side of your car seat

The strap you're referring to in the package with the manual is for the car seat belt positioning when your car seat is in the backless booster mode. The strap attaches to the lower back of the booster. It stays tucked behind your child's shoulder, and then the car seat belt is threaded through it- keeping the car shoulder belt at the proper height for your child. Hope this helps! :)

You're very welcome! That handy little strap comes with nearly every booster seat I have ever purchased. My son has used it for quite some time now because it's not bulky or irritating to him, compared to the ones that are installed in our vehicles, this one he can adjust as much as he needs to. :) Take care!

Not required, but highly recommended so the seat belt stays at the proper level for your child. I remember as a kid hating the seat belt digging into my neck in the back seat- wish I had one of these handy straps!

This is a convertible car seat. It is meant to stay in the car. If you want something to click into a stroller or carry around, you should look into an infant seat or a travel system (an infant seat and stroller combo) hope this helps.

Allyson Marthaler no the bigger convertible car seats are meant to stay in the car, it's good to start this when baby is about 6 months in my opinion. I started with my travel system with the infant carrier now I use the 4 ever car seat and pick her up and put her in the bigger part of stroller

I really love this car seat is great... But sadly i had to returned it, my 6 month baby gets really hot and sweats because of the foam material... I also heard that foam can be bad for the kidneys... I don't know what to do.. Instead of having to purchase another car seat, we use the Summer Infant car seat inserts with our boys. It keeps them cool in hot climates (we live in AZ) and keeps them dry too. Another added bonus, it's much easier to toss in the washing machine than the car seat covers and pads. Hope this helps!

WRONG! When converting to booster mode, the 5 point harness gets stored in the compartment behind the seat cover. NOT removed completely like the Nautilus! Get your information straight. This car seat, Graco 4Ever, is a cross between the Graco Nautilus/Argos, and the Graco SmartSeat, which have different storage instructions. Why waste time unthreading straps that can just be stored away now?!

I'm confused. Most carseats manufacturers have been saying for years that carseats expire after 6 or 7 years. Why am I supposed to believe this carseat is magically exempt from the expiration issues? I'm just not convinced this carseat will make it from birth to graduating out of backless booster seat around 8 or 10.

Brad Wayne totally valid, this carseat does have the 10 year expiration. Many of the higher end carseats have had a 7-10 year expiration. From what I understand, the most concern about expiration dates has to do with the harnesses. Children will be using the car seat belt after about 5-7 years when the seat converts to booster mode. Hope that makes sense!

So this literally is meant to stay in your car. You dont have the carrier handle to take baby out to the car to the house and vice versa. I live in a colder environment half the year and I cant just carry baby back and forth with out being covered. :(

If you need something like that, you need to get the Graco Travel System. It has the ClickConnect 35 lb limit and can fit into the stroller too. In my opinion, this particular car seat is great after 6 months. My 6 month old is currently in the ClickConnect 35 but packing him around in it (and up our stairs) is starting to get hard. We are about to purchase this Graco 4-in-1 so that it can stay in the car.

I just got the Graco DLX check it out in my last video !!

The only thing I don't like is that you can't take the car seat out and carry the baby with a handle.

Destinee H yes, that would be an infant bucket seat. This is a convertible carseat. Many people choose to just an infant seat for the first year or so and then move to a convertible.

Wait the instructions say to use the bottom cushion until 20 or 22 pounds .... why aren't you using it for your 18 pound 6 month old !? If you are doing a review and teaching parents how to use this shouldn't you be using it correctly !
