GR58 - 130 km solo hiking in the Alps - Le Tour du Queyras
I hiked the GR58, a famous 130 km loop around the Queyras, in the Southern French Alps, on the last week of September 2022, solo and unsupported.
I had initially planned to do it in 5 days, but an extra day was needed to complete the loop.
This was an amazing adventure, very challenging at time due to a heavy bag and difficult weather conditions, but the landscapes and overall experience were well worth it.
The physical challenge was so great that I lost 3 kg during this hike,
I tracked my hike with an app: visorando. The sum of the 6 days ended up being 110 km, but I have frequently experienced that visorando gives distances around 20% below the real trail.
*I have corrected the distance for each day with the ratio 130/110, which explains the discrepancy between what I say and the annotation at the end of each day.
Sections:
*The name of the locations is the closest village/named site to where I camped that night, but it can be up to 5km away from where I started/ended
Day 1: Ceillac -- Chapelle de Clausis
Distance = 23.3 km - D+ = 1614 m - D- = 885 m
Day 2: Chapelle de Clausis -- La Monta
Distance = 22.9 km - D+ = 1008 m - D- = 1527 m
Day 3: La Monta -- Abriès
Distance = 16.3 km - D+ = 882 m - D- = 1064 m
Day 4: Abriès -- Les fonts de Cervières
Distance = 18.3 km - D+ = 1540 m - D- = 770 m
Day 5: Les fonts de Cervières -- Plan du Vallon
Distance = 24.2 km - D+ = 887 m - D- = 1420 m
Day 5: Plan du Vallon -- Ceillac
Distance = 25.1 km - D+ = 1632 m - D- = 1909 m

Absolutely stunning work, views is outstanding! Incredibly well written and executed!
Impressive hike and video! You are a brave outdoor enthusiast. Looks very challenging and adventurous out there and so beautiful too. Looking forward to your next adventure ;)
Glad that you're back safely. Take me with you for the next one !

Super belles les images! Très beau montage 😀
Well done !

Well done and some great scenery. I don't think I could take a 20kg pack like that! I think you should get rid of that tent, TNF are over rated, and it looks heavy. Get a walking pole tent, they're strong and light weight. A lighter pack makes it easier and more enjoyable, or you could've done it in 5 days ;)

Thanks! Yes, the tent and my pack are definitely on the heavy side. The tent is 2.8kg and the pack 2.3kg, I could save around 2 or 3kg with more adapted gear for solo hiking. that would help a lot.it's nice to carry a 4 season tent though (when it does not leak 🥴) as you can sleep in rough conditions. I also took too much food. I finished the hike with 600g of food.. A few things to improve but it was still amazing!
