So if you are on benefit Your rent is automatically paid. Whereas if you are a working poor, you might have a week where you can't afford to pay all the rent. So therefore you get in arrears. Does this seem fair? If you are working? You should be able to have pocket money. I myself are on benefits after working for 37 and a 1/2 years on low pay. And when I realised what I could be getting on the dole benefits welfare. I am only about £55 a week. Worse off than getting up at 6 o'clock every morning to go to work. Working outside in all Weathers as well. In the UK.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

To the problem is not benefits. The problem is the cost of living , crazy high rents , and company’s paying people as little as possible. Benefits pay for your basic needs. Working should enable you to buy better quality cloths and food 🥘 put you on the housing ladder 🪜 afford to go out which people on benefits mainly can’t. The problem is the state of our economy and work doesn’t pay ! Not benefits

Oh so they'll put the Brits first in this situation, why don't this Government stick to what they know best and what they've been doing for years, putting every foreign national before any British people. Theres thousands upon thousands of foreign nationals on benefits, this is where they should be starting , make these people get out and earn their keep , they've been sponging off Britain for years. These people need to be made to go out and get a job just like they're making Brits go out and get a job.

@@gfhomeNevashedeloif you mean the Romans, the Angles, the Saxons, the Jutes etc, they are hardly the latest migrants, so I’m not really sure how that makes much sense. Also most English people I know have Welsh, Scottish and/or Irish ancestry in some combination. It would be a very rare English person these days that doesn’t have a mixture… I was personally born in England, so I guess am technically English, but one side of my family is Scottish and the other Welsh. Both of which can be traced back to when records began. I personally work full time, so doesn’t really affect me, be it makes a lot more sense that we ensure that the latest influx of people to have been given British citizenship should be out working for that privilege.

Most Employers deliberately try to get rid of workers once they hit 50. Where they do take on the over 50s, it tends to be zero hour contract work, ie, stacking supermarket shelves. For most people who retired early, that is like going back to school. This government is completely detached from reality. Not that they intend to actually do anything.

We don't all get these insane amounts; it covers the basics - after housing and utilities, I have about £120-150 pcm for food, clothes, everything. I promise we're not all on the blag. @unusedsub3003 Thank you. I think possibly the worst thing that has come from our sodding politicos feathering their own nests for the last forty years, is this division. Generally speaking, we're happy to cough up a bit to help those in a bind for whatever reason. We're not happy to fund everyone for every reason and that resentment bleeds over. You all need to look after your own first and when things are this tight, why should you fund me? The system is very easy to blag - no conscience and no consequences make it an easy mark - but there's always going to be an element of that. As is tho, it's ludicrous. I completely understand this anger, but the appreciation genuine. I exist on the kindness of strangers ❤

Good luck getting people jobs when DWP under Iain Duncan-Smith gutted all the job vacancy specialist officers in job centres by establishing regional call centres staffed by inexperienced new hire staff and making all the staff with extensive local experience and knowledge of their areas employers and labor market into benefit administrators. It was an absolute travesty in the name of saving money and all it did was make it much much harder to use the job center to find work. Allow employment agencies to post their own adverts on the job centres Web site which more often than not did not actually advertise a genuine work opportunity.
