    You have the right amount of tonal accuracy combined with loose lively brushwork and it's mesmerizing.

    Superb gouache technique! Loved seeing you make the most of re-wetting between layers, working broadly with washes first then toward thicker, more opaque paint. Good example of the principle that accuracy and detail are not the same thing! This shows that a painting can be expressive and loose but still highly accurate in depicting the subject. Gouache can be a wonderful medium for fine artists, not just designers- our partner company's Utrecht Artist's Gouache was formulated to give great results in artistic original paintings, as well as artwork for reproduction. Thanks for uploading this demonstration of your process!

    @@-Dubel- Winsor & Newton Gouache is made using gum arabic binder like better watercolors. It does not use a starch binder or "wallpaper paste" as you claim. Some types of "jelly gouache" and scholastic tempera may use a starch binder, but not the brand shown here.

    Lovely painting. I wish you talked about the colors you were applying. At five and a half minutes into the video, the color you applied to the face looked like a light purple gray and then, in the next scene, the face was a light pink- that was confusing, how did you get to the light pink?

    Your work is amazing! I have trouble sticking with the middle/ugly phase of my paintings, and I often give up because I can’t see past it. Any tips on how to combat this?

  • @dishashr

    @dishashr

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you so much! I used to have the same issue when I started, I have two tips for you, first is don’t worry about the end result just keep adjusting your values and colours and you’ll reach to a point where you can not go any further and that I feel is a finished painting,it’s a journey! you can try to make a collection of works that you completed by making it a habit, I usually don’t leave any of the pieces in between except when I’m painting in my sketchbook or experimenting. But you also have to be aware of your limitations. When I’m really stuck,I don’t try to paint the impossible, leave it there are thousands of subjects which you can paint always and feel great.

    Thank you for showing your concern, but I already have issues, unfortunately. I usually paint standing and rarely sit unlike how I paint in these videos, which helps!, try the old foundation training by Dr. Eric Goodman here on youtube, it really helped me to readjust my posture on daily basis.
