Sabaton have this awesome way of making me want to be a part of other nations. I'm British, yet I can't help but feel a sense of patriotic pride when I listen to Carolus Rex. It is a masterly crafted album. Long live Carolus!

I think you misinterpret the album. it is about the horrors of war, how a few religious fanatics and warriour kings brought hell to europe. I do not think many people are too proud of these kings. Forty years of war... it ain't nothing to celibate. Even if we did gain a bit of respect amongst the nations of Europe.

The conquering and mastering of the own life. Not going to war. True honor and warrior spirit is in you if you want. It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Hiroshige Miyamoto it doesn't exist anymore because it nevr really existed. noble warrior spirit is a thing bards,media and high ranking officers talk about while drinking tea. while for the warriors, it'S about having to brutally slaughter other people who would rather be at home with their families and work the fields not dying a horrible death or suffer disembermend. there are few exeptions and in small scale. (for example british ship surgeon spending hours to save one of several captured german navimen of low rank and gave him an honorful burial at sea when he didn't make it) still love the song, what sweden did for protestantism and sabaton though!

The 1:52 is the Hungarian flag in Empire Total War, the game from which are the screen shots, 1:19 is the Dutch.

The gameplay is from Empire: Total war.

Swastika is a symbol of good fortune, in some cultures it also symbolizes the sun, and balance.

Please remember that German, Dutch, Swedish and English are all basicly Germanic languages. Mitt=With in English Gott=God in English. It is true that during World War one God with us was on many belt buckles of the German Army. It is also true that the phrase was the rallying war cry of the King of Sweden during the thirty years war. This song is talking about his most famous battle upon the fields of Brietenfeld. [Feld=field in English, by the way]. Sweden was at this time a major power.

It means "God with us". In the 1700 it became a field phrase, like a password, by the army of Gustavus Adolphus at the battles of Breitenfelt ( Major victory for the swede's )and some other battles.

This was a very good video. Not only did it have well-made synchronization between music and images, but it also reminded me to play Empire: Total War again. Without cheat codes this time, and perhaps not on Easy difficulty... conquering the world as Sweden is always fun, the more challenging opposition the better. Glory to the Swedish Empire.

This song is perfect for war

This song is about the battle at Breitenfeld, when Gustavus the Great was king. He must have been the guy on the horse. Charles comes in later in history.

Because the Saxons didn't do much fighting. Johann Georg pissed his pants at the first cavalry charge, and led his troops off the field in a panic. Breitenfeld was wholly a Swedish victory.

There is another song about that war - "lifetime of war". That song contains more truth about 30-year war.

I know that Sweden lost Finland to Russia because the king was more interested in making sure the uniforms look pretty than that the army is capable to fight. They were given the order to retreat when they were still capable to stand and fight and later they tried to make counterattacks by landing troops on the south-west shore of Finland but these were too small and scattered and Finland was lost. So, I'd say this was a pretty humiliating defeat.

sweden was a much less developed country than rome was, while rom was being the biggest country in europe, sweden was still figuring out how to make food easier, plus we are a small country with small population and leaders who fought with eachother for the throne, so considering that we where good but we still where bad at the same time

Yes during the 30-years war 1618-1648 it was used by by the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus. I think it was used as a term of identification between the soldiers loyal to the swedish king (not completly sure about the meaning about phrase though) But it was used.

it was a tribute to past empires they never claimed that they invented the hail ´salute or swastika, finnish air force uses it still to this day.

Sweden hasn't fought a war since 1809 when they suffered a humiliating defeat to the Russian Empire and half of Sweden was lost to Russia. And today Swedish army has been reduced to so little that in reality they will be overrun in a week if an attacker comes.

You guys are talking about different wars, he (lukum55) is clearly speaking about the Finnish war of 1808-1809, where the main strategy of the swedish commanders was to retreat until the arrival of the main force from Sweden, oddly enough the Stockholm decided that the danish were bigger threat than the russians, so the main army never arrived, when decision to turn and fight was made in Finland, it was already too late...

You´re not wrong at all. This motto was also used by the Teutonic Order and it´s in the coat of arms of Prussia too. It was adopted by Germany after unification in the nineteenth century.

(Russians burned down towns before him, he thought he could spend the winter in Moscow and then the Tsar would surrender. The Russians burnt Moscow to the ground as he was approaching it, giving him nothing but ashes and ruining any chance of him winning the war.

While my ancestry is mostly german and I'm an American frankly, sabaton has a way of building pride in a country! I'm actually wanting to go look up the small swedish part of my family now!

No, prussian infantry had it on their belt buckle for a long time before hitler. German units during the first world war had it on their belt buckles too. the nazi "utterance" you are perhaps referring to is "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" ("My honor is loyalty") worn on the belts of the Waffen-SS

Also I read your other comment, the Dutch Flag is Red White Dark Blue{As is in the picture} the Luxembourgian flag is Red white Light blue, might have had that mixed up.

And it is the symbol of fertility and race pureness in asia.

I do agree however that after looking at the hungarian flag the coat of arms is very close for as far as I can see it. But I remember another minor Faction in Empire total war with a Green flag I just can't remember the coat of arms.

I can put British flags and symbols all over everything I own, doesn't make me British. Quite a few Wehrmacht soldiers were drafted, and many weren't even German (but rather from countries that Germany annexed), so quite a few weren't very loyal to the Nazis or Hitler. They fought for Germany, and not for the party.

Well considering the number of soldiers in each army and the casulties to each side, Sweden did excellent. Also considering the fact that sweden has been in around 32 wars over the course of documented history and won 22 of these and 4 of them were ties. No country in history has achieved in military might as much as sweden considering size population and money. Svecia memor.
