"His mother abandon him, he was raised by humans." I think that answers why he doesn't like gorillas and likes humans.

Have they ever considered that maybe he's just not a gorilla person? There are plenty of humans who love animals, but aren't too fond of other humans. Forcing him to go through "therapy" if he's perfectly happy with his choice of social association seems pointless and a little insensitive. It's like trying to force an introvert to be a social butterfly. If his mom abandoned him, then it makes sense that he would be like, "Well, screw you guys. I'm going to be friends with the species that actually bothered to give a shit about me." EDIT: I'm actually starting to feel a little silly about my comment getting so many plus ones. As I stated below, I am by no means a gorilla expert. I will fully admit I'm probably just projecting my own pet peeves onto Patrick for the most part, and that I could be dead wrong about the relevance of my argument given that he's an entirely different species.

Younique by Lavon V. Thanks. X3 As an introvert myself, this kind of shit annoys me. People think there's something wrong with you if you don't want to be around your own kind 24/7. We don't work like that. Socializing may charge you up like a battery, but for us, it's incredibly draining. I completely understand that the idea of being alone for hours on end scares the living piss out of extroverts, They need social activity to boost their energy. I just wish they would take the time to understand that for us, our alone time is how WE recharge. Just leave the damn gorilla alone, people. If he's happy with humans, leave him be.

***** Humans are regarded as social animals too, but not all of them get their stimulation from interacting with others. He may be an introvert. He may also develop a resentment towards humans if they continue forcing him to socialize with a species he doesn't like. He may view it as them rejecting him as well, and then he'd really be isolated. On a personal note, I have a question. Why do you keep referring to him as "it" instead of "he"?

***** I'm not sure you have the right idea about what introversion entails. Introversion is not a disease with symptoms or factors that "cause" it. It is merely a form of social interaction. Extroverts get their stimulation from social activity, introverts are drained by social activity and need time to recharge. The idea that introverts are depressed by default is a misconception. It's just that extroverts don't understand how introverts can be perfectly happy with being alone most of the time. Being alone for extended periods of time scares extroverts, so they assume that it must be terrible for the introverts, which it is not. Just because we're quiet, doesn't mean we're not having fun. Just because we're alone, doesn't mean we're depressed. People assume a lot about introverts because they never take the time to ask us how we're feeling. If anything, people not being mindful of us and how we interact with the world is what is truly depressing.

I can understand this guy's behavior as a bit of a social outcast myself. He got abandoned by his mother and likely was ignored by the rest of his group, but suddenly in comes this group of humans who takes care of him and raises him and gives him a home and new life. Little wonder he doesn't like the other gorillas. Honestly, I would have just left him alone and let him hang out with human beings, they're pretty much the only family he's ever got. Of course, this vid's 3 years old and it's probably a bit late for that bit of foresight, but, you know, whatever.

Put him in a situation with a submissive female, I bet you he changes. Silver backs don't do well with other silver backs once they reach a certain age. That's normal. Find a gorilla who is semi-independent that won't cling to him (yet will submit to him as necessary) and he'll be fine. Each gorilla has a distinct personality. You can't just throw him in with any gorilla, they have to match his temperament and needs. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right fit, just like it does with humans. You can't keep shipping him from home to home, though. He'll never learn trust or security that way, and that will definitely affect his social behaviors. Humans can't raise these animals. They need to be among their own kind or they find life with their own kind strange to them.

When I was younger I said I love you in sign language and he did it back then put his hand on the glass. All was good until boys came near me, and he hit the glass infront of them and sadly walked off.

I didn't realize they rehomed him. I left the area after they had tried to introduce females after Hercules passed away and he kept beating them up. Patrick especially loves women with painted toenails. Don't know why but he always got very interested if you showed him your toes at the viewing window lol.
