Actual Recipe: hellskitchenrecipes.com/gordo...
Directions:
00:00 Select ripe vine tomatoes for better soup flavor; core and quarter them before roasting.
00:13 Use red onion for its sweetness and finely slice with garlic for the soup; roasting versus stewing tomatoes enhances flavor.
00:41 Season tomatoes with salt, pepper, sugar, and cayenne for heat and balsamic vinegar for richness before roasting.
01:08 Roast ingredients for 20-25 minutes at 180°C to intensify flavors.
01:24 Make sun-dried tomato pesto with toasted pine nuts, Parmesan, and extra virgin olive oil in a pestle and mortar for enhanced control over texture.
02:13 Add vegetable or chicken stock to the roasted tomatoes and simmer; blend or mash for desired soup consistency.
02:28 Stir in cream for a richer, creamier soup, according to preference.
03:08 Create a gutsy cheese on toast using a roux with stout instead of milk, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Montgomery cheddar.
04:35 Grill the cheese on toast with the rich roux mixture until blistered and bubbly; a robust country loaf is recommended as the base.
05:07 Pair the creamy roasted tomato soup with the sun-dried tomato pesto and the hearty Welsh rarebit toast for a nostalgic and satisfying dish.

Just made it today, absolutley fantastic. Easy to make too. Iam not a chef, but love to cook. Having a big vegetable garden is a plus, when making tomato soup. Thank you Gordon. Friends love my food, because I only use fresh, mostly organic ingredients. Keep it simple.😊

Don't think twice about it, just make it. It's SO GOOD!! I don't like olive oil but I used it anyways because you got to trust the prosses. Just don't burn the olive oil and it will be perfection!
Gordon, I absolutely love your recipes and really appreciate your educational narration throughout your videos. I often look up your videos for inspiration. I make a cauliflower soup my husband is obsessed with inspired by one of your recipes. Quick request: I wish your production team gave us more shots of the food itself throughout the process so home cooks can estimate ratios and know what to visually look for in each step. This video in particular was more difficult to replicate since they gave us so few shots of the pan itself. Many thanks!

I am delighted to know that no bunnies were harmed to make Welsh Rarebit. Possibly my new favourite dish.
mmmm I just did this recipe using 3/4 cherry tomatoes the rest heritage beefsteaks - all roasted of course & Instead of using the pesto as a garnish, I doubled down and added a tomatoe plus a basil pesto to the blended roasted tomatoes & garlic after adding the creama .. My God this was delicious Thank you!
Just made this and it turned out great! Thanks!!
absolutely fantastic tasting tomato soup....will be making it regularly now. thanks so much Mr. Gordon!
Easy an simple an absolutely yum thanks
Just amazing.
This crusty toast with Welsh Rarebit is, with the tomato soup a 10 star cold night treat, Gordon.

Great job matt, Now that's the kind of cooking I do but not as often as I would like to.
It looks very great and delicious. Suddenly I am very hungry now and I crave tomato soup 😋😋
I did this recipe and I loved it. The cayenne makes it spicy. If you don’t want spicy, avoid the cayenne powder.
Thanks for this, I threw in an Avocado, just for good measure and used coconut milk instead of cream! It's beautiful!

I made the soup, so good!! Thanks for the post.

I made homemade tomato soup right now. Almost like yours. But I used homegrown heirloom and orange cherry tomatoes with white onion. It came out so delicious. I had to use my Ninja because I dont have a stick blender but it still came out very good. I like it way better than canned and its so easy to make. Thanks Gordon. 👍🏻😊

How do you do it without an oven and grill? Yes I live in a country where they don't have them as common kitchen items.
Great recipe, try dried limes instead of balsamic vinegar, you need only one of course only the inside of it not the seeds nor peel. I am sure you will thank me for this tip. Boon appetite ❤

Beautiful tasting soup but how do I make it less watery?
@stanpines9011
Жыл бұрын
Heads up because I'm not a chef or even that good of a homecook, but what i tend to do is sear the tomatoes for some longer before i put the garlic in with them, they lose more moisture and the garlic won't burn. It seems to work for me. My main question though, why do you want your soup to be more "dry"?
@adamcenovski6767
Жыл бұрын
Simmer and reduce to desired consistency. This will also concentrate the flavors the more water you steam out. Which is essentially what reducing is.
I made this a few years ago, but I found the stout made the roux bitter. Would you add honey to the roux to balance the bitterness of the stout?
@artgreen6915
9 ай бұрын
It's supposed to, do not add honey or any sweetness. Rarebit was originally a poor man's alternative to meat and is intended to be even more savoury than a 'grilled cheese'. The slightly bitter umami addition is what Welsh rarebit is about. The soup is providing the sweetness here using ripe tomatoes plus Gordon Ramsay chose to add a little sugar in making the soup. The rarebit is complementary. It will key-in to the balsamic vinegar and the sun dried tomato pesto, but play with the subtle tomato sweetness. The closest basis I can find for what you want to do is an historic recipe for English rarebit that starts by soaking the bread in red wine. That might work here. The bottom line is that Welsh or any rarebit is supposed to have that bitter-side-of-umami undertone to the grilled cheese. Do not dilute that and think you've still made rarebit. The cheese should soften it slightly.

Looks so yummy 😋 I’m gonna make it tonight 😘
Does anyone know roughly how much salt and pepper to start with?
For me it's the pesto sauce 😋
Substitute the Cayenne with Carolina Reaper. . Comes out amazing. About 1/4 reaper if you are a mild Chile eater. 1 whole one if you love the heat. Also ghost pepper gives a good flavor too. Chop them fresh, don't roast them. Trust me on this one 😂
