Some people are hammy interviews, some are not. Gord is a quiet, reserved person, naturally. A really good interviewer learns how to create a relaxed atmosphere and let the interviewee steer. Forget the standard questions and the stories you've heard a thousand times ... the 'sound-bites'. With a guy like Gord there is a wealth of stuff to tell, set the right mood and it tumbles out, (like the canoe trips). I always feel like Gord is just getting primed to talk about the time an interview ends.

Indeed,Gord is not very chatty at his shows,but has a very dry sense of humour,actually i find him to be a real hoot!One can see how Gord waited as this interview unfolded,he took over in complete charge,after all these years he knows how the game works......

Gord is kind of aloof and rigid in some interviews, partly because he's so precise in what he says. This one got better as it moved along and he relaxed. There's another video of him later at the same event singing and -- holy crap -- playing a guitar he didn't own and hadn't bonded with. He usually refuses altogether if it's not his equipment. It's great because when he opens up and trusts a crowd, he's consistently interesting to hear and still a wonderful, unique performer.
