GoPro Polarizing Filters | When and Why To Use Them

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Telesin CPL for Hero 5/6 Black: amzn.to/2xsAf2j
In this video, we are taking a look at some polarization filters for the GoPro Hero 5 Black and GoPro Hero 6 Black. These filters are compatible with both. One of the main reasons why you would want to use a polarizing filter with you GoPro is to cut back on reflections which in turn can produce deeper richer colors and offer more saturation and vibrancy in your photos and video. Filming on water is a great example of when you would want to consider using a polarizer for your GoPro also known as a CPL filter. In this video, I show you some examples of footage shot with and without a polarizing filter on my GoPro Hero 6 Black. These filters will also be compatible with the soon to be released GoPro Hero 7 Black.

Thanks for sharing. I typically film with my gopro while out fishing. The polarizer filter has made a big difference and I like the results so far. However I find the polarizer can fog the lens.

Hi, i just got the GoPro 7 Black for making flyfishing video's. I use polarised sunglasses so i can see the fish much better. I just got the Polar Pro filter set and i noticed that the PL filter is very bright. It doesn't look like my sunglasses at all because because they are much darker. I fear that this will not have the same effect. Could you please shed some light on this issue. Maybe recommend what lense to buy.. Kind regards from the Netherlands 😎

  • @krane15

They work the same way you sunglasses do: ND (rated in levels of darkness) are just sunglasses for your camera. Polarizer reduces the glare. Just like your eye glasses, your camera can use both.

How do you possibly know what is the proper adjustment in terms of rotation of the CPL if you can't see through your camera like you can on a DSLR (I do not use Bluetooth for battery reasons on the GoPro, for what it's worth). It seems like you would just have to guess and then slip on the filter and HOPE that you have the correct angle.

  • @AirPhotography

In some scenarios, the polarizers really can make a difference cutting back on glare, which can really affect your overall color. You do have to watch with filters as they affect the stabilization. I tend to only use them where there’s not gonna be a lot of movement or stationary and I’m trying to have a longer shutter speed for time lapses
