Hey Mariah is finally in the recording studio!

Mariah going to get involved in the pod perchance?!? If not, requesting her presence more often if only for her S-tier eyerolling. I also don’t think food nutritional value can be determined by just appearance right now. Un-subtle flex, but I make an amazing vegan lasagna. If you just show it a picture of this lasagna, it would not know whether the ricotta is made with tofu, and that there’s a blend of red lentils in the sauce to give it a meaty flavor. Even for noodles it probably wouldn’t be able to tell if pasta is made with regular wheat or if it’s chickpeas.

It's the weekend in the UK! Closer to Christmas! :) Merry Christmas, guys. Congrats Andrew too! :) Welcome back

Did you know that babies need to burp after drinking milk? Have you ever heard them? I didn't know this until I was taking care of my newborn niece. She was so tiny and adorable, but when she burped I used to get scared 😅

We need more of Mariah in the pod, I like how she doesnt understand the things that the boys enjoy, and cringing over David and Andrews comments and that adds a new dimension to the pod

I took a photosphere in a nice place in Italy last year... And there's loads of 360 cameras surely??

I love listening to the pod in the subway or while driving but I get a kick watching you guys cos the editing is so on point. That OMG at kids online. What a nice touch. Cheers

So glad that Andrew is back! And it's strange, this is the first time I've observed this. Andrew sounds more like Grant Sanderson.

So I have a Pixel 6 Pro and I use photosphere mode at least once a week. It's an awesome feature that works perfectly when I want to demonstrate a POV to a client (I'm a wedding coordinator). I WAS NOT AWARE this feature was lost in 8 series! I was just about to upgrade over the holidays but that totally is a deal breaker! This should have been a trivia question !!

It's been on my Pixel Fold since I got it and it's still there in the newest QPR beta that just updated a few days ago. Stitching is almost flawless and it's super immersive on the foldable display

My favorite Google photos hack has to be the map. I love road trips, and it shows a string of all the photos I took out and back along the map, and I can grab all the photos I've taken around the area. You can scrub the map around and use it as a location filter

Having Andrew back is the breath of fresh air I needed on this Friday which is actually 2 Mondays standing atop one another in a Friday trench coat!

LiDAR module is different on iPhone 15 pro. Less dots but increased power on each dot to project further, and much more frequent projection. Might have been another reason spatial video can only be on the 15 pro.

Im really curious how useful the meta assistant and glasses could be for someone with visual impairment. Could be a fantastic tool for it to read something and give you the helpful information quickly

Think about how incredible the RayBan's could be for people with vision impairments. Having something that can audibly confirm what it can see for you, pretty amazing!

I was listening to the pod at Apple Podcasts but when Andrew said Mariah was there at the end, I had to come here to see because not a word was said and I love that she was just an easter egg.

The KZread Music podcast player is actually pretty lit, you can cross comment from it and see the video feed and everything. You can also access timestamps, and it helps you keep your KZread consumption habits under control if you have it on a timer but don't want to count podcasts.

20:30 Google Maps also has the timeline feature which keeps a detailed log of where you go and what kind of transportation you use to get there. Definitely dystopian, but also useful... 😅

They've never stopped having photospheres, and it's improved quite a bit over time. It's still in the Pixel's camera app as far as I can tell.

Google have rolled out spatial panoramas in Pixel 8 pro, which can be viewed on cardboard. It's happening automatically when taking a panorama and it doesn't seen to have been advertised yet which makes me think it's a prelude to a feature rivaling the apple offering

I still use photosohere ALL THE TIME. Especially when I'm on vacation. The stitching has gotten leagues better, too.

Congratulations Andrew! Heres a dad anecdote for you. I am relatively new parent with several Google assistants that we routinely ask for help so I guess it was inevitable that our one year old third word (after mamá and book) was "Google" which he now repeats constantly triggering all the devices around the house. Also, 51:13 The StandbyME Go is a dream come true for a lot of people in the military that are gamers.

Calories and carbs are generally determined by a calculation from the fiber, sugar, protein, moisture, and mineral content that are derived from other assays (usually HPLC or a vacuum oven for moisture). There are other ways to go about getting a general idea, but this was how my previous company did so for labels.

I swore I watched a Hank Green video once that said essentially the way they find calories is by essentially blowing up the food and they can somehow calculate it through that?

@@Manganellia1 that’s one of the other options! Generally for FDA nutrition panels, companies opt for the testing of individual components and calculating from that

"meta what do you see?" Could be quite interesting for people with sight impairment!

Regarding Google's AI Biographer: I think we're forgetting that it is Google's business to know everything they can about you so they can serve you targetted ads. So regardless of the data it pulls from your device they already have a digital profile of you based on your online activity that they could use to feed the models.

Photo Sphere has always been in the Google camera app and it still is in my Pixel 6

haven't watched all the way through but another difference between apple and google lawsuit, is there is more than one app store available on android: play store, samsung store etc. Google was giving preferential treatment to developers to go to the play store rather than device specific app stores

I've been using photo spheres on my pixels (still do on my pixel 8 pro) for the past 5/6 years. Never knew it was "killed" elsewhere

Google did state that Photosperes have been sunset, but on my Pixel 7 Pro, in the latest version of the Camera app that just came out this week, I still have Photospheres.

I didnt hear anyone talk about this but like if these meta glasses or any other smart glasses develop enough it can be very useful for blind people. i mean it doesnt even have to be glasses, cant they make a camera that is connected to second part that you can hold in your pocket. there would be much more room if needed. imagine pressing a button and it just starts talking what is in front of you

Andrew is largely correct on the calorie count point - even a standard food serving thats prepackaged has widely varying calorie counts and whats on the packaging is more of an average
