    @@subgivtara Well at least none of my Android phones have had to do anything special to enable it. all i needed was that the receiving end also had RCS enabled, which has been the case automatically on literally all android phones at least for the past 7+ years. if your grandma with their iPhone doesn't know how to enable it, and Apple for some reason does not do it automatically. then it's yet another way how iMessage is behind the rest. i would even go so far as to say that even Skype is god tier when compared to iMessage, purely because i could install Skype client on literally any platform . where as iMessage is purely locked behind Apple's wallet garden.

    iMessage I can’t stand when you’re listening to a voice message it will stop when your screen locks. You have to unlock and start over. It’s maddening. Telegram allows you to hear the voice message even with phone locked.

  • @DeputyBurbank

    @DeputyBurbank

    7 күн бұрын

    @@qazmko22 well, if they are going to allow voice messages to be sent via iMessage then they need to allow the user to hear the compete message without the phone locking after 15 seconds and then having to replay it. Perhaps the phone should be prevented from locking when there is a voice message playing. Or just allow the message to be played with the screen off (like telegram) and put the message control on the locksveen media control panel (like music) so user can pause it if they want. In which scenario would someone unlock their phone and then listen to the voice message and then suddenly have an intruder steal their phone and be able to hear the message when phone is locked? I don’t think it’s a security issue, it’s just poorly implemented. They’ll probably fix it next big update to iMessage. Typically they don’t listen to user feedback for these small logistical issues, they end up discovering it themselves when using the phone personally. At some meeting Tom Cook or Some other executive will say “by the way guys, iMessage voice messages cut off when screen locks”. Gotta change that. The one good thing about Apple is they all use their own devices. Unlike Android where they personally use Apple devices and so don’t notice these little things until there is a huge surge of feedback. That’s why Android has bugs and poor attention to detail for so long… engineers don’t even use the devices on their off time. Only at work.

    Ability to use on many/pretty much all brands probably should have been a point too. With that being said, I’m excited to see what Google has for us in the future with Google messages! Having used both RCS on Android and iMessage on my iPhone, I can honestly say each have their strengths and weaknesses. iMessage is still the standard and between that and FaceTime, is why most people still buy an iPhone. But there’s little in customization which is where RCS is better. Honestly, with the head start that iOS has had over Android for years, they should be light years ahead of anything on Android. But, Apple is greedy and lazy so iMessage is basically the same it’s always been except for a few new features here and there. And most of those “new features” are ones inspired from Android. iOS has excellent ecosystem sync second to none and Android is still trying to catch up there. Really, neither is technically better than the other because it’s all subjectively based on each individual’s preferences.

    Exactly. Phone use culture is different here. Maybe 5% of people I know use an Android device as it is. I think a big reason is because iPhone was very expensive to begin with and people in the US could afford it. iPhone wasn’t even available in a lot of countries to start. So android grabbed global market share and WhatsApp gave android users overseas an iMessage-like experience. In the US, iMessage simply works out of the box so there was no reason to download a third party app for US iPhone users.

    Honestly at this point i wish google mandated an option in the setup of android phones to use a selection of default google apps or to straight up use stock android or to use the tweaked manufacturers skin*which is unlikely. Its so weird sometimes that some android users dont know what features are available because their phone uses a different version of an app like dialer or contacts etc. Something that sometimes works in appls favour is that everyone gets the same experience more or less and there's no guessing if someone else's iPhone can do something On android with the amount of options that are already out has in some cases created a mess since there's no standardised experience.

    I'm apart of both form factors. On the Samsung front I have the Z Fold 4, S24U, S24P, the Tab S9 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic (which is 🗑️). On the Apple front I have the Apple watch Ultra, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPad 12.9. What I do like about Apple is that no matter what phone I send videos from they're of a higher quality. When I send videos from my Android to Android, it still tells me I have to trim the video even with rcs on, that's some 🐂 💩. I wish I could send videos from one android to the other without using Telegram or Whatsapp. I think this is what makes apple superior. I think there still will be a catch to Apple's version of rcs.
