Google Pixel Fold CAN'T handle the heat! - (or anything else)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Pixel Fold folds more ways than one. Grab protection for your device HERE: www.dbrand.com/shop/pixel-fold Today we are durability testing the Google Pixel Fold. A brand new folding device from Google. And... well... it does not do so great. The Google pixel fold is first scratched, burned, and bent and ultimately fails the JerryRigEverything Durability test. Hopefully Google can strengthen the phone up a bit for next year. Hit that subscribe button so you dont miss the autopsy. I mean teardown.

The reason why it only opens to 178 degrees out of the box is to account for tension over time. This way when it finally expands to 180 degrees after a few months of use it doesn’t end up with a very visible crease in the middle. I am no fan of this phone at all but this specific point I thought was pretty clever.

@@---fk1ct ... The problem is that most people use their phone as their primary computer ... But the standard phone screen at 6.6inch - tall form factor - is too small for some needs, like reading documents ... So the inner screen is supposed to fill that need .... So that the foldable phone becomes truly the primary computer for such an individual. The only issue is that alot of useful features have been removed over the years which diminish the power of the same phones: Analog audio jack, Mem card slot for external storage, et c.

Well analyzing structural weak spots can't be that difficult. They left the antenna line there by choice. Probably on the safe assumption most people would close the phone before setting it anywhere, and even if someone sat on it while open, you'd need to get pretty unlucky to get it to snap like that. From the looks of it, to break the phone, you'd need to set it open face down on a soft surface, and full-force sit on it. If it's on a hard surface it wouldn't bend enough to break. And if you just sit down and jump off as soon as you feel something on your ass, you probably won't bend it enough to snap it either. It still sucks that the phone failed. But if I was in the market for a folding phone, I wouldn't consider this test results a deal breaker. And the phone's resistance to dust was bloody impressive too.

I don't understand why anyone would like this form factor. No phone has ever had that form factor and people have never complained that their phones were "too narrow"...because they weren't. Google just made their Pixel Fold ridiculously wide for no reason and are calling it "a normal smart phone experience" when nothing about that width is normal. It's almost as wide as a Z Fold 4 using a thick case with S Pen holder on the side! If you put a good case on the Pixel Fold, it's basically guaranteed that the side ends of the phone are sticking out/up from inside your pocket when sitting down. Width is the most uncomfortable metric in regards to form factor when it comes to pockets. And for what? The extra width doesn't even do anything, really. Meanwhile the unusually short hight means you'll spend more time scrolling on many apps. There's a reason there are no square phones...width and hight have different values. Like, I'm honestly curious. What do people like you enjoy about a phone that's unusually short and unusually wide?

@@bexclue3007 I can almost say you never used a 16:9 phone. People complained back in the day when phones started to be more narrow, because it adds black bars at the sides to the video (but they keep makig phones like this until people never cared, same like headphone jack removal). Having a more rectangular shape is simply better because most of the content is made on 16:9. Now opening the foldable, and it has a more tablet shape. The other foldables looks squaerish when open. I would gladly use a wider phone, and it's the same reason i won't buy a Xperia phone because it's too narrow

@@HatArmor in fairness he did this to every folding samsung phone and none of them broke. the reason the pixel broke is that the when the phone is unfolded the edges of the screen where the hinge is do not meet. on the samsungs they meet in the middle and completely cover the hinge meaning the pressure of bending it any further is resisted by the edges of the two halves. (source: me, i have a fold 3) The pixel has a gap so theres room to flex it further than it should be flexed. check out his durability test for the fold 3 to see the difference. however these videos are there to show you the durability under extremes. Though i would be worried about maybe sitting on the phone after leaving it on the couch and not realising it was there. that might be an issue.
