don't get y all yutubers have the sameScript about editing features in pixel 😅all the photo editing tools by google are already available since more than 3years on tools like p rofessional film editing software and also lightroom, photoshop etc.. google just made it more handy, I have been using similar tool like magic eraser since 2016 on snapseed, google just made it easier to do in the photos app by just a tap. Last time mkbhd said there is not much difference in the phones to justify 300$ difference so they listened to mkbhd this time and cut down features on non pro phone.😂

I also like the little things Google pixel does. I just flew and 24 hours before my flight Google reminded me of it. Not only did it remind me of it, it told me when to leave to arrive at the flight and what gate my flight was on. When I landed it told me what number carousel my bags were coming out. It's the smartness of this phone. The little things that it does. The voice to text is almost perfect. I use it every single day. The pixel makes my life easier. due to the small enhancements that you don't realize you need until you live without it.

i missed the colored power button, but i guess metal rails kinda makes this an impossible task now. i don't really missed the fingerprint reader at the back as it kinda ruins the aesthetic. but considering how many people are complaining about this optical sensor being so bad, they should consider going back to physical sensors but incorporate it onto the power button like many other phones are doing it. no shame in not having in screen fingerprint scanners.

WoW thanks for a great review. I stick to my 7 pro for another year, but the 8 looks like an amazing improvement again . One point of criticism: I have my 7 pro 11 months now, after 6 months it seems to drain the battery faster and getting hotter while charging. But then after an update, I think in June/July, the battery life has improved soo much and it didn't get hot while charging....very weird, but I'm happy. The battery life has definitely improved soo much ! Thx.

@@Volker_A4I've had the same thoughts, on foreign western countries, Google Pixel images look somehow more appealing than Pixel images taken in humid tropical countries like India, or in Southeast Asia, where the processing probably couldn't figure out itself to adjust to, and thus appearing more "HDR'y" or too processed. Not sure if it's a Google Pixel issue in general, but that's always been such a phenomenon for me; it's theorized that camera lens behave differently in humid conditions and explains why iPhones, Pixels produce better images from Europe and America, then on Asia Samsung performs best.

I'm interested in that follow up video on the generative ai editing features. Seems like content filtering is a persistent problem right now with all of the corporate ai solutions. They want to prevent abuse, which I understand, but they're scared of negative press so they filter WAY too aggressively which results in lots of false positives. And the whole thing just feels hypocritical because even if it works correctly, it's an arbitrary moral judgement being imposed on us by an inherently amoral company.

I was really considering going from the P7 to the P8 Pro, but considering how many features are simply software locked I'm gonna hold out for the P9, by which point a lot of the features will have probably trickled down in typical Google fashion. Still, it's super exciting to see Google continue to make big swings in the smartphone space!

7 years of software updates does sound really great, my #1 concern however is in the durability of the phone. My personal experiences with the pixel 7 longevity have been really bad with the screen pretty much falling off the phone and that makes me quite concerned about the 8 as well. It is not a one time issue either as I have gotten a brand new pixel 7 multiple times through warranty and eventually switched off it now and got a samsung phone. From talking to third party repair shops it seems it is a common issue and they blame the way the phone is mounted, the glue used and the manufacturer that google has decided to use (at least the ones that come to norway). It really is unfortunate because almost everything else about pixel phones is incredible, but having the screen fall not even 2 months after I get a brand new one is really not pleasant and completely turns me off ever getting a pixel again unless I know that issue is fixed in a newer model.

Great review! I have had a Pixel 6Pro since 2021, and while I have been generally pretty happy with, there are a few issues I'm not...battery charge time, screen brightness outdoors, call quality and call/data reception, stupid fragile curved screen, slight orange cast to some photos, inconsistent focus, and lack of a real Manual Mode for the camera (My old LG G4 had a much better camera, IMHO). Looks like the P8P has addressed all of those issues. But one thing about the P6P's camera that's always bothered me is how it gains up the brightness slightly in shadows, to show more detail I assume. It can give some photos an unnatural look. It looks as though the P8P is still doing it, if that brightening of your face example is any indication. Thanks for pointing that out. I just wish Google gave you more control of that though maybe the new Manual Mode can correct it, so I don't have to "fix it in post" LOL!

@@LukeFleggThat's... Not at all what he is saying. Some of us just want top tier camera specs in a phone that isn't the size of a brick. Apple already does this. They could easily make a larger pro and a smaller pro and differentiate the size by making one the "max" option for people who prefer larger screens.

I love how we can choose our faces and choose the ones that look better. But, sometimes the photos where not all of us are looking straight at the camera looks more charming and natural than the option we get here. We're nearing more and more towards a generic uncanny valley look where everyone's always smiling, perfectly straight at the camera

An IR thermometer is actually super useful during cooking. If google can put some smartness into it by automatically recognizing whether you are measuring a cast iron pan, oil for frying, or some other food using the camera and correcting the emission rate accordingly it's gonna be terrific.

It’s more accurate to say that you can usually get “good” results by just eyeballing/winging it, but for those of us that actually like to achieve consistent, near identical results, and for actual professionals where consistency is a job requirement, a thermometer is used. For average everyday home cooks, guessing is fine.

Honestly absolutely excited to order my Pixel 8 - I've decided to go with the base model as I don't really have a use for the extra camera features (as nice as they are) and they get the same main sensor which is the only one I truly care about. Also, 7 years of software support is frankly brilliant and I look forward to replace my aging Pixel 4 (yes, my battery life is terrible, before you ask) Brilliant video! Can't wait to fix my life in post.

Only one physical sim is a really important omission if you travel!! Many apps like Google send you messages asking you to confirm if it is you, banking apps constantly send you 2-factor security codes if you use your card, and all to your main registered number. So you need to keep your main number active when abroad, which means that's your physical Sim slot used up. Not all UK carriers use eSims yet and certainly they are not always available in some foreign countries. And anyone who has bought an eSim for abroad knows that the eSim set-up process is not always reliable (with no refunds), that it can involve 20 or 30 steps to set it up properly so no stick it in and off you go for tech-phobes, that support for eSims is non-existent if you have a problem and it is more expensive than picking up a physical Sim. Phones with the capability for 2 physical Sims plus eSims have got it right. That excludes Pixels. And seriously, a temp sensor on your phone is just EMBARRASSING!

Did you do it? I’m thinking about the same thing, coming from a 14 Pro Max. I’ve been embedded in Apple (2nd Gen AirPods Pro’s, Apple Watch, etc) but I’m really liking the look of the specs on this phone, and honestly kind of miss Android but love how Apple operates so this is the only Android I’d consider at this point. No hate, I too was once a young man that bought every Android and iPhone that was “the next big thing” back in the the HTC My Touch days 😂 man I forgot about HTC phones until this post so that makes it worth it even if you don’t answer lol. But if you have it, do you miss your iPhone at all? The keyboard is not great all of a sudden for me. I swipe to text (because of my Android days) and it used to work but it suck’s now. Speak to text isn’t up to par with other phones. Maps still isn’t great. But I love the battery life and MagSafe is dope. It’s tough man lol
