Google Pixel 7 & Pixel 7 Pro Review | One Month Later...
Ғылым және технология
Reviewing Google's Pixel 7 Pro and regular Pixel 7 one month later, to see if the camera tech, battery life, gaming performance and other Android 13 bits are still among the best. The Pixel 7 is my personal favourite phone thanks to its compact finish, although the telephoto camera of the Pro is a big miss (as it's one of the best of any smartphone in 2022).
Thankfully that's the only bit of slashed optics, and Google's affordable flagship can capture sharp, detailed photos and great looking video almost any time of day. If you thought Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra or the iPhone 14 Pro Max were good, the Pixel 7 series are a step beyond.
Gaming on either phone is relatively smooth these days, even if you boost those Genshin Impact settings right up. The Pixel 7 Pro and standard phone both use Google's Tensor G2, as crafted with Samsung. It's not the beefiest smartphone chipset out there, but it's absolutely fine for everyday activities. Although the Pixel 7 handsets do get rather warm at times.
So that's what I think of these blowers after using them as my full-time phones for a month. Let me know your own thoughts below!

7 Pro since release... best phone I've ever owned, and I definitely put it through its paces. Was running warm with lesser battery life in the first week or so, until the battery optimization figured out how I use the device. Cool as a cucumber now with full day battery life. Couldn't be happier.

my previous Android phone before P7 was P4a. I still missed that phone. it was so good, that a friend at work purchased it from me 18 months later at nearly full retail value. I could not say no at the time. Then I missed, like you can't believe, that rear fingerprint sensor! It was during the year that they were still building 5G and the 4GLTE was standard everywhere. best purchase back them among a few.

Nice update Chris will be changing my 4a 5g out soon for the 7...can I say how much I appreciate the sound quality of your videos and your sense of humor of course!
Been using the base Pixel 7, and I have been loving it quite a lot! Was an apple guy for quite a while (4S, 6, and 8 Plus) and always opted for apple as I was in the apple ecosystem, and just wanted a phone that worked. But as of late, with their pricing going higher and higher and the anti-repair behavior they have, I decided if I can't easily replace components, might as well find something cheaper, and something that allowed me to sideload applications as I chose. Also, I didn't particularly like Apple Watches (battery life sucked so I switched to a Garmin Instinct Solar), and while the earpods pro have great sound, I preferred wired earphones for the same audio quality at a much cheaper price (Moondrop Starfield). Furthermore, I didn't have many other Apple devices (laptop, home, ect.), so there wasn't much hardware-wise tying me to that ecosystem. My first dip into the Android ecosystem earlier this year was buying a used Samsung s10e (initially just for retro emulation), and after 2 weeks of frustration trying to unlearn the apple way of doing things, I had a phone that worked, was nice and small, and certainly cheaper. However, with the end of security updates coming up soon for that model, I wanted to find something that would have a long support life as I don't like switching out phones very often. The Pixel 7 has blown me away. There are some strange glitches and freezes in apps here and there, but overall the battery life is fantastic (there are some instances that if I know the following day won't have heavy usage, I won't bother charging my phone at night when at 40-50%). The camera is really good (although I haven't been able to put the astro-photography through its paces yet, so we'll see), and I'm able to play my emulation software really easily and conveniently on the device. I will also say that it didn't have the frustrating/confusing setup that the Samsung s10e had. I tried setting up autofill passwords on the Samsung and there was the Knox system and then saving passwords via your google account, and it wasn't as fluid an experience as on iOS. The bixby button I also found a little dumb on the Samsung, and the left-swipe screen (whatever it was) was annoying to accidently swipe into and didn't do anything for me. The Pixel 7, I feel, would be a phone I would be comfortable recommending to longtime users of iOS looking for a compact experience that's easy to make a switch to...however, what is still a pain is getting Apple bought media (music, tv shows, ect.) onto my phone, and is annoying since I love listening to my music and all of that is in the Apple ecosystem. But it makes sense, if I was apple, I'd do the same way to discourage people from jumping between the two. Also makes sense why the Pixel is so user-friendly compared to Samsung, google makes both the hardware and software in this case (much like on the apple side), so of course it would be user-friendly. Hopefully I don't have to jump from Google in 10 years, as I'm not sure what a phone experience with Linux would be like. :|

Thank you for this useful review. I'm curious about your comment that between 2.5 and 5x zoom, the camera uses both lenses, the main and the telephoto. On my Pixel 7 pro I saw this between 4x and 5x zoom, but it seems to me that 2.5x zoom can be covered by the cropped "2x telephoto" lens.
Absolutely adore my new Pixel 7 Pro, especially with the black friday deal I snagged. Took a punt on both the 6 and 6 Pro last year and had to return both due to bugs and glitches making them useless for what I needed. Sad as I loved using them. Wanted to try again as the new models are apparently mostly fixed and safe to say I'm not disappointed this time around, best android phones going and a bargain compared with the current Samsung and iPhone line ups!
Been using the P7pro since the monday after the launch. Been loving it. My only knock is the audio codec, while solid, still not as good as it was on my OP8t
Thanks for another great review 😊😊 The flat screen is one of the reasons I went for the Pixel 7 myself; I had a Pixel 6 Pro and I found the curved display meant my chunky cover barely protruded above the screen and was a big factor in the screen shattering :( I found the Zoom lense wasn't something I used much on the 6 Pro too, great cam of course, just not much use by me. Stoked with the 7 so far, the face unlock is just amazing, and the upgraded fingerprint is a huge upgrade too.

It would not be wise to release an extra pixel 7 where the only difference is a telephoto. Also, good camera systems take up a lot of space, so it can be difficult to fit it in a small phone without compromising on battery, or impacting thermals. The bigger the phone, the less thermal energy per unit volume, and therefore lower temperatures.

There has to be a difference between the base and the pro otherwise it makes one obsolete. If they added the telephoto to the base model, they'd have to add something to the pro, and then we'd all be complaining the base model doesn't have what the pro has! 🤪
Had the 7 pro for just over a week now. Only had one issue where the screen went black and unresponsive but still playing audio. Restart fixed it tho, and apart from that, been a great experience
You are literally my go to guy! Great Vid thanks a bunch!! RIP Queeny!!! 🙏🇬🇧
3 phone retailers plus JB Hifi had both these on display. And equally discovered the screen resolution black or clear horizontally lines that shows on rasterized graphics and vectorised cliparts. The same issue i have on my Note 9 since my last month update. Literally was going to buy this today, but seeing this issue changed my mind
Seriously, if Google would just launch a pixel 7 sized phone with zoom lens, and have it cost mid way between the 7 and 7 pro, we would have the perfect Android phone on our hands. Since I have the 6, I'm going to hold off on upgrading this year, don't really see where it's worth it. My work phone is about the same size as the pixel 7 pro and I absolutely hate the size of it. I always tend to get palm taps while I'm scrolling through content.

Loving my 7 pro upgrade from 5 so still learning to get my hands around the bloody thing... My only neg is the speakers, as someone with tinnitus and hearing loss in left ear the 5 was perfect, in screen speaker for the right ear the louder one for left. But on this one it makes my head spin no matter which way I hold it. It's like the sound is swirling round my head and it's tinny and not as good on volume.. other than that which I'm sure I'll get used to.. I can't fault it.
Great review man, you're reviews always seem so frank, good stuff
Dude every video I see of yours I want the wallpaper you're using. Please tell me where you get them
You definitely hit the nail on the head with the fixed focused front camera it's really not good at all compared to Samsung's autofocus 40 megapixel or even apples autofocus front camera. Very good review
7 Pro and overall I'm happy. The camera is great, particularly the zoom lens but on the downside photos taken in whats app are not as sharp as when taken with the regular camera app. Mine doesnt get warm at all. I would prefer if the volume control turned red at higher volumes to let me know if I'm listening to music too loud, like my Samsungs did. Ive heard bad reports about video calling with the 7 Pro but its not a feature I use so Im not bothered.
Pixel 7 for me because of smaller size. Smaller the better in phones.
Every video of yours I watch your phones have always got sick anime wallpapers
I ended up returning mine because they couldn’t send me the trade in kit sooner but when I was using it my one major complaint about it was how tinny the speakers sound they don’t really get bass and the sound like you’re playing audio from a soda can amplifier thing. Overall though great phone.

Like you said zoom on Pixel 7 Pro nice to have but still get better results with dedicated camera. That, the curved screen on the Pro, and smaller size helped me go with the regular Pixel 7! Awesome! Pixel 7 here - purchased in NYC from Google Store.
I came over from the pixel 5. I was skeptical that the new 7 pro would be able to hold up against the new iphones as far as cameras go. I went on a road trip last weekend with a few friends. We visited the St. Louis zoo and attended a concert the same night. My pics and videos from the zoo and concert blew their phones away. A LOT of my photos were pushing the digital zoom passed the 5x zoom. They were fantastic. The video I took at the zoo and the concert were crystal clear, and surprisingly, the video taken at the concert was crystal clear for audio as well. I'm really happy with the 7 pro.

I love your device wallpaper being a anime fan ! Please tell me from where do you get those
Just got Pixel 7 Pro. One thing for sure this thing you can use as a hand warmer in winter, no need for gloves. Rest of the advantages I will look in the coming days
Great review 👍
I love the wallpaper on the pro. Is it standard?
Got the 7 pro.. would have liked the same tech in pixel 7 size
I love form factor of pixel 4a. It feels like butter after getting pixel 7 pro. Sacrificed form for that zoom ability.
Hello and thanks for the review. I own a Samsung S21 and I can save RAW files only in PRO mode but in PRO mode I cannot click on the screen to focus on a subject with the main camera, only with the ultra-wide (strange). Can you please confirm if you can save RAW files also in Portrait mode? Thanks!
Lovely review. I have a question, If i want a 512GB android with dedicated SD card also and dual sim plus fast charging. Not much concerned about camera but waterproofing would b nice. Can u people suggest a few options.?

I'm planing on the 7 Pro. As of now, I have a Huawei P30 Pro, which I have been really happy for. Especially because of the camera. But its time to move on to something new. And the newer Huawei don't have Google services. So I'm forced to shift brand 😊

I'm on a p30 for 3 years now, it still runs well, just the battery is getting weaker, although it still gets me through a day without excessive KZread. Got a pixel 7 now plus a pair of pro buds. Sure the 7 pro is tempting, but I can't see me using the extras over the 7 enough to warrant the extra cost, and It's rather large.

@@pirx9798 I also love it. But I also like new tech 😁 If you search ebay. Then you can find a new battery and back cover for very few money's. And KZread a videos of how to do it. I'm tempted to change it my self. But I would prefer to get a new phone 😁
I upgraded from the Pixel 4XL to the Pixel 7. The 4 XL was my best phone ever. I miss the 3d face recognition and Soli radar on the Pixel 7. You only notice the higher resolution of the Pixel 4XL next to each other. The Pixel 7's screen is much brighter. The Pixel 7 also runs a bit more smoothly and the new features are good. The review was of high quality as usual. Marked all the good and bad points well.

How's the battery life going so far? Planning to buy one but the small 4000+ MH got me bit worried tbh!!

I am also a Pixel 4XL user and thinking of upgrading to the Pixel 7. My main concern is battery life because on the 4XL it became very bad over time although I love everything else on the phone. How does battery life compare between the two?
