Gemini is still in beta and it has already integrate some features to gassistant. They will combine it once gemini is mature.

It's just a Google thing to do , there were so many duplicate Gapps before they slowly started shutting them all down. I just hope Google stars polishing up their apps instead of flooding the user with more apps that may or may not last more than 2-3 years. Honestly very frustrating being a fan of Google for so long. Google should work on refining what they have now before making more Gapps. Gapps still have a lot of small annoying bugs that impact the user experience in day to day use. I really want to see Android succeed and I am not planning on switching to IOS anytime soon. Both platforms could really learn a lot from each other.

Apple makes lots of things America-exclusive as well, and Samsung makes a lot of things Korea-exclusive. It's unrealistic to expect every feature to be available worldwide.

I'm in Australia and my Samsung phone offered a system update and Gemini came with it, the generate pictures is awsome. Thanks for this review.

Looks like phone AI is about to get a major boost with MediaTek and Google's collaboration. Curious to see what new features this brings.

The problem with Gemini right now is that it doesn't recognize my Google Assistant commands to Activate my Routine Command words that I set on GOOGLE HOME. I usually use these words to "Turn ON All The Lights" or "Good Night" to turn off all the lights and things like that.

This is scary and exciting gat the same time.

There is another issue that arises when you have multiple language setups, such as Arabic and English. Sometimes, when you speak a command in English, it gets transcribed into Arabic script. For instance, if you say "What's the weather like right now," it may be heard as "وتس ذا ويذر لايك رايت ناو" and typed in Arabic script.

kept happening with me, had to remove the Arabic language for it to work properly (I made sure it wasn't the default language )

I have this: Its not available in your language, and when i change the language nothing changes 😢

The need to fix, that it always open the app and that it doesn’t work when its locked and many other things, but those 2 are the ones that bother me the most without mentioning that i cant change the voice like in the asistant

I wonder how much Google knows and will know about us after this. Scary world we live in

The thing to be worried about was the gps tracking of your every move, even though it's just your friends who got their gps active. Right now it would be too expensive to listen to everyone, so the next thing to worry is when when the AI data processing is locally done on your phone.

Great video, tried this in the UK but pretty much everything i ask it to do says it cant do it. The main one for me is playing music from Spotify. I use this in the car so until it can do that its a pass from me.

Google lens features are far more important for me so sticking to assistant for now

I hate that it opens the app every time it answers.

I have it on my Samsung S23 Plus but it's not available on my new Pixel Tablet.

I think I'll keep Google Assistant, or Alexa until this is more polished. But, I think it has potential.

What about short commands, like saying "Stop" or "Snooze" when an alarm is going off?

I don't have gemini but some of the features are available or i would say google silently input them on my phone. Probably for familiarization.

In the UK image generation is not possible as far as can see on a s24 ultra

Interesting. As of today (April 5th, 2024), I can export Gemini's answers to Docs perfectly fine. However, I tried the exact same prompt that you used for Spain vacation and the answer was pretty much a downgrade from what you got. No images, no cards, Google Flights didn't work. I'm using Gemini Advanced too. Perhaps it's a location issue? I'm from Argentina.

To be honest exporting to docs worked for me. Not sure if it's because it's only text but it's not fully broken

Installed the APK in Australia today and when i open the app and press the "get started" button it says the system language is not supported. I tried with English UK and English US and says the same thing so apparently English language is not supported.

The apps great but after installing Google discover started lagging a lot, myt on my phone only but id rather wait for the stable version to be released

Not only Pixel phones, it replaced on s24 ultra, so, i assume, any android phone with assistant toggle

What is the magic word for Gemini

I tried it in Italy on a Pixel 6 Pro, but it's too slow as of now.

Gemini doesn't support routines, especially the Clock's Google Assistant Routine that i love and use every time i wake up

it's not that it doesn't recognise clothes, rather it doesn't accept any photos with faces in them, so you can just paint over your face to hide it and it'll work just fine.

If it says not available in your language, change your Assistant language to English (US) in system settings. If it says unavailable because of something else, update your play services

Issues : 1. Screen search don't work at all as Google assistant, which was the most useful feature of this assistant app 2. It always takes you directly to the app to show the results where previously on Google assistant it used to show results in a pop-up view. This two problems really annoys me

it does, if you choose it as the default Assistant and enable Hey Google trigger.

Image generation still doesn't work in the UK. Copilot is better as it's nowhere near as limited based on geography.
