Adding a shortcut of a shared folder on your drive would be just a link on your computer when using backup & sync. To work on the same folder with someone else directly from the computer, it's better to move the folder to your drive. The option is currently greyed out when you right-click on the folder, but it still works with the shortcut Shift+Z. The Folder uses the storage space from the folder owner only.

Great video, Kevin. I loved being able to put an icon on my desktp. Questions: It seems that Win10 has gotten rid of the option to DIM SCREEN. My husband is in IT and he can't find it either. It used to be you could dim your screen by using keyboard F keys. Now you can't. Also: is there are way to re-order the RC drop down menu. "Remane" is right by "Delete." Which sucks. Thanks!!

Also in addition to this. On the Drive URL shortcut, other Drive related keywords / phrases also work. Say you want to search Drive for documents concerning 'Dogs' but only the documents you are the owner of. So using Kevin's tip: Drive[space] to bring up the drive search and type 'Dogs owner:me'.

Dear Kevin! You've been a life saver! Can you please help in how to permanently default the Word font to Ariel from their Calibre? I've done it so many times over the years through Settings, but it just kept going back to Calibri as soon as I've finished - sometimes even when I start a new text box in PowerPoint within the same page. It is frustrating and time consuming. I've always thought it could be some conspiracy that MS wanted people to use the Calibri for some unknown reasons! Anyway, it would be wonderful if you can please help? Thank you. Mimi

Great tips but I don't seem to have the same behavior for the Browser Address Search Bar. Typing the space after "drive" loads up my Google Drive but I don't get the "Search Drive |" in blue like exampled. Instead it's the typical URL search bar, so searches aren't focused within my drive and go out to the internet which isn't any different than what it was.

That last tip: When sending an email with a link to google drive files, you can also change that file afterwards and your recipients will also see that change the next time they view it, correct? Unless of course they download their own copy onto their harddrive or something...

Hello, Mr. Stratvert. When a folder is open, the file path is displayed above, but when a doc is open, how do we navigate to the source folder ?

so i looking to get multiple drive (Gmail workspace accounts) as a folder on my pc - I have my first personal Gmail account - but i have created 3 business workspace accounts and i would like to have them also as a folder on my pc - can i "get backup & sync " for each Gmail account and label them in my folders?

Limit of OCR (recognise text) is that the document has to be < 2MB.

I wish I knew how to sync a folder shared with me be someone else. I would like to see it in the File Explorer in Windows. Any ideas how to get it synched both directions?

"Backu & Sync" app? I thought the computer with Google Drive installed can be set to automatically reflect the same file if both on the computer (in the proper directory path) and also in the online cloud storage? What do I miss?

And one correction about storage policy. After 1st June 2021 any file you saved as google dos, sheets or slides it will occupy your main quota. Only updated files or newly created files will consume storage space not the one created b4 this date.
