I visited the Kung Fu Monthly offices in 1978. I was a teenager in my Wrangler jacket covered in home made Bruce Lee badges! They were very nice to me. It seems they still have a generous spirit!

Nice one. Did you keep the denim jacket? 1978 seems like an eternity ago now. KFM is run by Carl Fox now, and yes, he was very generous for gifting me these gems. Cheers bud 👍

@@StripeyR I'm afraid not. My collection vanished in the mists of time and circumstances! I couldn't afford to replace it all now so I'll content myself by watching your videos 😊

Goodness Street? Originally? I was there in 79' as a spotty faced teen, dragged my mum and stepdad along too, they weren't as impressed as I was 😅

Goodge Street! Damn autocorrect!
Good old Goodge Street, happy memories as teenager 1973 ish and went into Chinese shops lots of Bruce Lee mags and books in Chinese, and saw my first Kung fu film there in Chinese cinema One Armed Boxer and did walk past Kung Fu monthly office, memories.
I recall a goodies episode where it showed the posters of Fist Of Fury and The Big Boss. They rephrased it to Fish Of Fury and The Big Pud.😃 Great days. How times have changed. 👍👍
Nice one Stripey! Love Kung Fu monthly and its collectibles. Managed to talk over the phone to the legendary owner Felix Dennis many years ago. Really nice of Carl Fox to send you these. I had a few letters published in some KFM issues. The editors always responded to anyones letters that were published. They were class.
Great pod cast with the kfm stuff, I still have many original copies from the early 70,s among a few other very rare items that you don’t see, well at least I haven’t in the last 50 years. Keep up your good work. Love it my friend.

Thanks, Tony. I had to get the Shout Factory disc's (they're oop now) The KFM stuff was very nice from Mr Fox (nice bloke) Cheers pal 👍
Very generous of Carl Fox to send you all those goodies. You guys are very lucky to have the Rise of the Dragon convention. Looking forward to your review.
I have still got every issue of KFM., plus some doubles. I also have the Trade Dummy, and I was in the Bruce Lee Society. I had a drawing published in one of the newsletters 🙂
Stripey, One of your comments box mentions Steptoe and Son. If you've not seen it, you don't know what your missing. A real crack up and tongue in cheek dedication to Bruce and Enter. I was only 4 when Enter was released here and i wish i would have been 18 in 1974 to see that film and witness the atmosphere of the kung fu genre. Many happy memories of collecting my KFM magazines, but they have that musty old smell now despite them being in protective covers, so i don't read them, as the wife doesn't like the stink in the living room!😮😮 Warmest wishes. Tony and Kim 👍 👍

Nice find Stripey, your collection must be up there with the best. My wife's away for a few days, so I've been having an 'Arrow-fest' (and the WB 50th 4K ETD). My eyes are pretty much square now, so I don't know what yours must be like 😂

It's getting there, bud. There are a few Bruce Lee sets out there I'd like to get, but a little out of my price range. The "Spectrum Collection" DVDs looks cool, but £150. The wife would go nutz. Enjoy the Bruce fest bud 👍
What a great gift. Those Kung-Fu monthlys are legendary in their own right. I'm lucky, I still have a few of them. Like you, Stripey, most of mine were on my wall. Cracking video👍🏻👍🏻

Now that is cool! I remember Kung Fu Monthly very fondly, I had our (at the time) local newsagent order them for me each month as they always sold out in his shop. I still have a lot of them boxed up in the attic, so it would be great to get them down from there for a wee bit of nostalgia. Won't make the Rise Of The Dragon event sadly, other commitments with family stuff going on at the same time of it. Cheers Stripey!

They are expensive on Amazon. I bought them on Ebay, all reasonable cheap except Game of Death ( but I had to have it) Cheers pal 👍
Very generous and a nice touch…. Have a great weekend mate just catching up on your vids
I had two letters published in KFM. One is in KFM No.45. I know that as it is the only one I have left 😢
I still have an original Bruce Lee Society sticker from the ‘70s. 😎

What a lovely set Stripey, I wish I could go to the event In October. But like I said, It would be too much Pain to go through for two days. I could have bought along all My KFM's and got them signed. I know You are going to have a great time, and get lots of It on film for those of us who could not go. Can't wait to see that. Keep on looking, they are out there.
I had each KFM as they came out but, though a few survived as posters, most were cut up and displayed as photos. I've just looked on eBay for a complete set, but £1100 is out of my league. Thankfully I've still got all my BLS stuff.
I remember all them original KFM magazines in the newsagents back in the 1970s and had the whole set which ended in 1983 I think. I had 3 issues of the black n white dummy issues but was thrown away when we moved house with all the original FOH sets of bruce lee movies that I got from Cathay films in soho square in london .my folks thought I had outgrown a lot of things when I got to 15 years old.gutted now but that's life I guess.nice stuff you have there mate.
Great video Stripey. Like the covers on the SHOUT releases
Happykungfudayloveya!
Very generous, awesome stuff, congrats.
You have some awesome viewers! Nice haul! Been doing some digging regarding the sped up Nunchaku scene from ETD. It seems most likely the diffent speed would be (possibly) due to camera set ups rather than a post production effect. Diffent cameras may have been calibrated differently? Also due to the different angles, the apertures and sometimes shutter speed are different which seems to make sense. Not evidence but could explain it. As you said we've seen Bruce spinning Chucks with some serious speed. Keep up the good work mate.
Great collectables Stripey! I’ve got the first two KFM Archive books by Carl and they’re great: a quality product that brings back fond memories. Apparently there was a showing of a special edition of ETD at the 2023 Rise of the Dragon event. I’d be really interested to know what additional footage was in it.

Additional things included in that screening was: - Concord intro - Golden Harvest logo - Used Lee's own voice for the monk scene (using Little's dub for the missing dialogue) - Replaced International intro with Chinese one - Moved Lee's first meeting with Mai Ling to after the first day. - Included additional footage of conversation with Lee and Mai Ling (had dialogue recorded from script), with Lee changing from his white jacket into his black catsuit and exiting through the door - Added a small shot of Lee striking Oharra from a different angle during their fight - Added additional footage of Lee's second conversation with Mai Ling (which explains why Lee uses the window instead of the door to go out into the night) - Chinese end credits instead of international ones I think that was everything. We had positive feedback from it anyway.

😂Omg stripey 😮I'm jealous I'm not going to lie, man very generous of him, see as i always said and say, it costs nothing to be nice, i can see the delight on your face mate, i used to be like that with my mates, when they were in my 1st man cave, they could get over all the nick nacks of Bruce Lee in enter the dragon mostly 😂i had, and I'd simply take the item down and give it to him, providing it was looked after properly, i lost my 1st collection, to an accident, belive it or not, he still has the enter the dragon promotional flag from the Premier from the states, he offered it back, but refused, when i gift you something it's for keeps, take care Darren and enjoy you deserve them mate 💯✌️🇮🇪✌️🤜🤛👊👊👊#1940to1973 #brucelee #foreveryoung #jeetKuneDo #ENTERTHEDRAGON #KungFuMonthly

HELLO matey I noticed you reacted to my comment about The nunchiku scenes possibly that 1camera may of been slowed down and the other kept at normal speed but you didn't give any thoughts on the idea ,I'm just interested if you considered it plus did you get a chance to check out the Brandon interview in Australia 1992 ? It's quite a famous one I'm sure you've seen it loads of times but it's worth going to have a look at it again as we forgot exactly what is said due to the 100s of interviews people like me and you have seen on Bruce it's quite classic actually and I love the way Brandon says his Dad was ridiculously fast anyway still enjoying your videos lucky you getting all the posters and bits and bobs from The Bruce lee monthly I was actually chuffed for you I enjoyed watching your face light up 😂🤙

Talking of goodies, please could you do a review of The Goodies "Kung fu kapers," including "ekithump". I'm sure all your subscribers would love it. Also Bruce is mentioned a lot in the episode of Steptoe and Son as well.👍

That episode of Steptoe and Son is a real crack up and had me in tears. How I wish I would have been 18 in 1974 when Enter was released here. Watching that episode and seeing the poster being shown at the cinema when it's going off was true nostalgic. I also love the way they both refer to Lee and Han in that episode. Bruce would of been in stitches Watching that episode. Good on the writer giving Bruce tribute to his greatest of films. Glad you mentioned it because not many people are aware of it. 👍👍

Lovely gesture from Carl. You certainly helped sell a few tickets Stripey 🎟️ I’ve got those individual shout factory releases. They were excellent for the time 👍 I had to buy all those KFM mags second hand. By the time I got into Bruce they have finished being published. Still have them somewhere. Got them all including the trade dummy for a fair price back in the late 80s early 90s. That trade dummy goes for crazy money now. And I never understand people disliking videos. I get it on my channel. Don’t like it go and watch some Beerdy BS videos. Probably more their level 🤣
