    As long as the edges aren't like needles or knife points I would say that the gecko would love this edges for getting off their shed. You have to be more cautious with the diy plastic hides because those suckers will cause damage. • @FoxParasyte

    @FoxParasyte

    3 жыл бұрын

    i can possibly make a video on it but a TLDR is most hides that have a bottom like that repti shelter or even say a tupperware with a hole in the lid can make for a good humid hide. Generally hot and cold hides are the same, it doesn't really matter since the under tank heater should be what makes the difference between the hot and cold side.

    I'm not totally sure on that. I wouldn't if it were me because not only would i have to take the extra time sterilizing and cleaning the shells from bacteria, i would be concerned with the gecko getting trapped inside the shell. Unless the shell is one of those massive ones that doesnt have a large deep canal inside. I would be more comfortable with pods like seed pods, monkey pods, or split pods. • @FoxParasyte

    @FoxParasyte

    3 жыл бұрын

    I'll be honest i'm very limited in my knowledge of snakes. I would imagine the same general rule would apply however obviously with larger snakes you would need a larger hide. I know big box pet stores have a good amount to choose from it's just about checking the hides themselves for any hazards that could damage the skin/scales on the snake.

  • @6strings735

    @6strings735

    3 жыл бұрын

    If it is a baby spotted python, they need low height, preferably dark hides. A paper towel tube (give it a little squeeze so it is not perfectly round) is great actually. Or Pangea or Lugarti small plastic hides. Spotted pythons are crevice dwellers, so they like to squeeze into things. Also, on Etsy, look up leopard gecko hides. Almost any will work. You don't want a heavy rock hide with a baby snake - too easy for the keeper to accidentally drop it on the snake. An adult spotted python is much more forgiving in the choice of hide. But they still prefer a low-height hide if given a choice.
