Angulo was never quick, but Canelo's work to the body slowed him up more right from the start, so he looked particularly slow here.

Man!! They finally got this fight in HD. I give Angelo thanks because he allowed us to see Canelo’s full Arsenal. ✊

Te most impressive of those being Miguel Vazquez. First time they met, Vazquez was making his debut, and the second time they fought at 147. But Alvarez was only 17 when he beat Vazquez for the second time.

Louis Woods it’s just his style there’s been a couple boxers who fight like that and still have competed in elite fights which I never understood how . Like Nikki Adler , nihitio arakawa and Angulo like they are all hella slow

I swear that for the first 3 rounds angulo seems like he's not really punching canelo but more like touching him. It struck me so hard that I had to stop to comment it. Meanwhile Canelo's punches seem like bombs. I don't know if the sound has been modified or something like that but it's really intriguing

You can probably still find those comments in his fights from the time like vs Josesito Lopez or Kermit Cintrón. But you're right, Angulo wasn't quite the same after the Lara fight

Good job by the referee. Angulo's corner should have thrown in the towel a few rounds ago. I can't believe how slow his punches were. It seemed as if he was knocked out on his fee just sparring from muscle memory. He was a punching bag out there. He's got a hard head. I was surprised he lasted that long.

Well I almost think Alfredo Angulo might have been juiced up I checked another fight he had with Kirkland and it ended in a loss in the 6th round. If that same guy would have been the one fighting Canelo he wouldn't have made it out of the first round.

Alfredo Angulo is one tough Mexican fighter. MAN Canelo hit him with so many hard punches and Angulo didn't even go down.

Angulo must've thought he was sparring because he damn sure wasn't fighting.

For those who might not understand why Angulo was so slow and how did he manage to still gets to that level is because not only he’s a pressure fighter, it doesn’t bother him to take a lot of punches especially in the early round, he’s just usually moving forward and just trying to touch his opponent, use his physicality, and usually on the later round when his opponent is more fatigued and drained than him he really starts to put more pressure, drown his opponent into a massive amount of punches, don’t let him catch a break, and often end up TKO him, especially in the very late round, Gennady Golovkin was as well considered like a slower fighter for his division yet he was an absolute nightmare to fight, constantly walking his opponent down. You can see for example in the fight that even with the punishment he takes he still tries to constantly move forward and put pressure on Canelo. This strategy has worked tremendously during the course of his career (he was 22/2 at one point) but as you can guess not against Canelo, this is also why he was very upset about the stoppage, because considering his strategy he still thought he had a chance to win.
