Gold Panning Inside Vs Outside Bends EP3

This is the third in a series where I compare pan samples from the inside and outside bends of many different streams throughout the SE United States Piedmont Region. So, follow along and find out which comes out on top. Please feel free to make predictions and give reasons why you think one will be better than the other. At the end of each video there will be a spreadsheet with an ongoing spec tally for inside vs outside. I have my own hypothesis that I will discuss during the various episodes. In your experience, are the typical gold distribution patterns as consistent in these flatland streams with standing or very slow moving waters? I have a hard time imagining them as ever being powerful torrents like the flowing rivers in mountainous areas, and wonder if the usual rules of thumb like sticking to inside bends, or avoiding straightaways are as relevant in these slow moving waters. Cheers.

I’ve generally found that in the SE Piedmont that typical gold distribution patterns don’t hold much of any value within the current stream as you see it. Some of my best gold has been found in straight aways and outside bends, and historically mineable amounts of gold were not found any further then about 1.5 miles from their sources. So when the gold actually was moving in the SE Piedmont it was probably over 10,000 years ago within stream channels that are within the same valleys but don’t correspond to current active channel. I hope this makes sense and helps lol.

@@theprospectinggeologist4347 Makes perfect sense. I had a hunch, but it's helpful to hear it corroborated by somebody that actually knows what he's talking about. Thanks!
