    I have enjoyed coming along with you as you have been scratching out a living there in th outback. Your practically, " A Natural," at narrating th content of your filming efforts. I've listened to a lot of other folks as they detected, and they seem to think that cursing,makes a better video. Thank you, for governing your language on your videos. I'm a Brthr in CHRIST, cursing isn't necessary, in order to communicate. Cheers mate. Keep up th good work.

    hi steve have watched a number of your gold videos and enjoyed all of them hopefully ill get back to WA to do a bit of the same .i didnt realise you were a kiwi until i saw your video on 1080 my cobber a possum hunter in the late 70ts saw the total destruction of a kiwi colony near kahurangi light house by one of the first 1080 drops in that area . he told me they were so vocal it was hard to sleep at night but within three days he never heard another peep . so much for 1080 protecting our wild life

  • @stevegraf9276

    @stevegraf9276

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Williaim, yeah that 1080 has really done a lot of damage in NZ. We've seen some awful sights over the years and unfortunately it dosen't look like ending any time soon either. They're using more every year and Kiwi are disappearing at an alarming rate. That story you said about the possum hunter sounds like many others we've heard across the country and it's so tragic. The departments just don't seem to care and of course they never go into the bush so they don't even now whats happening out there.

He stopped because he is getting up in age and because of people robbing gold. Hope you never had to deal with those sorts of people.

    Thanks. Yeah I agree it would make a great series, if only a tv station was interested. I believe there is still some good gold in NZ but as far as I'm aware the country is mostly tied up with either private land or DOC administered land and their regulations make it extremely difficult or too costly.

    Thanks for your kind words, I tend to do most of my major excursions solo and while it does add an extra degree of risk it all adds to the experience. I traveled over via the southern route, so past Broken Hill and out across the Nullabor then up to Kalgoorlie and beyond. Next trip I'll probably go via the northern route. I have another gold video I've just finished editing which will be on utube soon, with some bigger gold and larger wildlife also.

    Hi, I usually like to go outback for a few months at a time as I did on this trip also. I can generally have enough food and water to last me for 3 weeks then I have to head to the nearest town to stock up again to last another 3 weeks and so on. I don't have a caravan or trailer so I'm a bit limited as to how much I can carry at a time. I just sleep in the vehicle as well. Unfortunately i don't film everything I find or all of the encounters I have as I don't always have my phone with me but it's nice to record some of it 😁. If you happen to have seen my recent trip to North Queensland you'll notice a completely different terrain which was quite challenging at times but a nice change of scenery and well worth it. Cheers 😃👍.

    Apparently Kangaroos can smell rain on the dry earth and scrub from a distance of fifty kilometers or so and a word describing that specific scent is 'Petrichor'.
