The old timers, some of them, were great at getting gold. Not many of them had the capacity to go after fine gold. Where I live in the desert southwest, gold is the same size as the dust and these newer techniques pull way more of it out of the ground.

How do you do a cleanup when it’s stapled. You should’ve silicone it in and then you could’ve took the level and tip it upside down in a tub to clean it out, very simple

Which mat would you recommend for beach gold and fine gold in general?

just to be clear, the 'dream' mat pan vs the 'vortex miracle cube' mat , were they each used as the top mat to get the pan samples for comparison, otherwise isn't the second mat always going to have less in it?

Hey John, I was trying to keep the video short so I didn't do any comparing on how much the vortex would catch if on the top tray nor weighed the results. I was only testing how well the dream mat would discard the black sand while retaining the gold. The dream mat lost gold as would any other mat used to capture beach gold. My thoughts on showing the vortex capture was more about the amount of black sand left in the mats, I knew there would be less gold simply because most of it would be caught by the first tray. Do you know if the gold cube can run with backed miners moss and expanded metal? I want to get one but id like to feed it quickly and have alot of faith in the capture rate of Miners moss...do you think it would work?

Hey Zion, to be honest I'm not sure it would work. Miners moss and expanded metal takes alot of water to keep active enough. Perhaps if the material ran was light with few black sands? I'll test it out for you if I can find some free time

Good eyes man! 😀 It's all good, I run multiple trays and this was just playing with the sand. Not worrying about losses because I plan to run all the dirt we have laying around in the store. There's gold everywhere 🙄 such a horrible problem to have lol

So the micro dream mat lets a bunch of gold escape to the next tray? When both trays have vortex matting installed, there is very little visible gold in the second tray. In this test, the dream mat looks to have missed 30-40% of the gold. Also, you fed the Gold Cube wet material so that eliminated a major advantage that tray 2 supposedly had. A better test would have been to use the dream mat in one of the actual trays, instead of in the slick plate. Then run the material, measure the results, change the order of the trays, then do it again.

Hey, thanks for the comment. To be fair, I was running beach sand that had an insane amount of black sand. We've tried numerous pieces of equipment at that location and they all lose gold 😀 We just try to capture as much as possible and keep digging. I plan on changing all my mats out with the dream mat micro. It has great capture, less cons, and easier cleanup. Excited to try it out at the beach.

He isn't running the cube correctly. You need a top slick plate for feeding. Gonna lose a lot of gold that way

I am NOT impressed with any of the dream mat stuff....
