Oh this quartet reminds me of the years gone by When I was still a child starting g to have an ear for music Dating back in the 1960s and 1950s Melodies were a lean clear composition of the days An ear can't get tired to listen even if drowsy I compliment you brothers and dads. God save your voices for generations to come. 🙏

The ONLY thing wrong with Southern Gospel music is there just isn't enough of it.

Sad a lot of quartets wen toward more rock or heavy metal mixing with southern gospel. Won't buy gold city anymore since Dan took Over. Went towards rock and Brian free

Bluegrass,REAL COUNTRY, Southern Gospel, Church hymns..Have all went rock/pop..ALL OF IT!...CONTEMPORARY Music in about all Churches. They rarely mention Jesus name.. Its.."He's so good"...I love him. He saved me...The Blood...The Hymns...the words ALL GONE!.

A big problem with southern gospel is that the radio stations play music from groups who simply don’t sing very well. It’s a big turnoff to listeners who might be potential fans.

I like when a group just stand there and sing without any form of entertainment other than their voices. Really good singers

What a great lineup! One of the all-time great groups.

Old neighborhood put together 5th Sunday night singings at small Eastside Baptist church. Had "practice up" quartets do this in a heart felt memorable way. Most have gone on to heaven to sing it perfectly. Thanks Gene, Bobby Joe, Archie, Arthur, CJ, Henry, George and others who could bring a tear of joy singing this. Oh and thanks Mrs Mary Helms, in heaven now, for the wonderful, expert play by ear piano work that made it all so pro sounding.

Natural beautiful bass voice. Always loved this group especially when Brian Free was their tenor and Ivan Parker was lead.

I grew up listening to southern gospel; I love it especially the bass ; such as J D Sumner and others now a days people find 1 station such as K LOVE and that's all they listen to I like these old songs

Such beautiful harmonies. One of the greatest combinations SG has ever seen.

Love this song. My father had a record of Tennessee Ernie Ford and The Jordanairs singing it. As a "flower 🌼 child" I found comfort in the words.

We need more music like this in todays churches they catering to todays generation which is sad in today's churches one the reason the church as a whole is not like it once was

I've been following Gold City for along time and have a lot of their CDs. I think my all time favorite is "After I Bow". When I listen to it I am quickly reminded how it is going to be when we get to Heaven and see God in all His Glory. What a glorious day that will be!

I have always loved this song. I got to see Gold City in concert when they were here in Virginia a few years ago. They were absolutely awesome. The first time I heard this song was on an old LP of Porter Wagoner's with the Blackwood Brothers singing backup. I think it was the Big Chief singing bass.

Garry Horn Close on the Big Chief singing bass, but I believe depending on the date of that LP, that would have been J.D. Sumner singing the bass with the Blackwood Brothers.

I believe you mean Big John Hall because Chief sang with the statesmen till his death In 1973 at the NQC. But the bass is John Hall when they recorded with Porter wagoner

Beat Gold City lineup of all times. This was a great concert. I have watched this prolly a thousand times and it never gets old. The video at the end was hillarious. “Nah he can’t kill you man….. cause you’re already dead!” 😂😂😂

I'm just learning to play this song; there a lot of recordings of it on KZread; this and the Chuck Wagon Gang's are my favourites so far. The Blackwood Bros. are probably the first but love him as many do, the long interlude of J.D. Sumner doing deep bass takes away from the enjoyment of listening to it more than once.

Some sing to the Savior and some for entertainment. Some both.

I prefer JD Sumner singer bass in this song

I’ve grown to love Tim Riley’s version of everything - his voice always compliments the music, never dominates it - but that’s only to my ears may be. I’m from across the pond but when I listen to this music I say and mean God Bless America - the people, the culture the music.
