Going to the Bank. Hi, I'm Grace. I went to a bank yesterday. When I arrived, there were already some customers, so I got in line. When it was my turn, I told the bank teller that I wanted to open an account. The teller asked me which type of account I wanted to open: a checking account or a savings account. I wanted to use this account for my everyday spending, so I chose a checking account. With a checking account, I can deposit and withdraw money through the bank or an ATM, pay bills, and make purchases with a debit card. To open the checking account, I needed to show a few documents, such as a driver's license, passport, or other government-issued ID. After I signed an application form, the process was completed, and my account was opened. After that, I asked the teller about transferring some money to my mom as a gift. The teller explained that I could use the bank's online system or mobile app to send money directly to her account. She helped me set up my online banking profile and showed me how to make a transfer. It was easier than I thought! Since I'm going to take a trip to London, I needed British pounds for my journey. I asked about exchanging some dollars for pounds. The teller told me about the current exchange rate and the small fee for currency exchange. I decided to exchange some of my money right there. Recently, I have been thinking about buying a house. The teller was very helpful and introduced me to their mortgage options. She explained that a mortgage is a special type of loan for buying a house. She discussed the interest rates and how I must pay back the money. I left the bank feeling ready and informed. I was excited about buying my dream house soon. It was a good day at the bank!
