going to a foreign country alone as a gecko.
Комедия
This is probably my favorite video I’ve ever made - back in June I went to Guatemala alone to walk around as a gecko and see what would happen. I was invited into a guys house to eat bread made out of shit, interviewed the local McDonalds employees, met an expat running from the FBI, exercised with the owner of an all ladies gym, and lots of other fun and weird and random things.
I have lots of times in my life where I am afraid to do something and then I do it and it works out well and this is one of them.

Lyle was so happy when he thought everybody was recognicing he is a lizard, beacuse in the US everybody thinks he's a frog. He's going to be very disappointed when he learns that "sapo" actually means toad. Edit: just got to that part of the video, and indeed he was devastated by the news

It’s wild that if he said gecko most people would have known what he meant. Lol I relate so much! Learning another language is a process.

I love how the McDonald’s workers take the “does he come alive at night” point so seriously. Everyone was so nice and patient.. love how it seems you learned so much Spanish just from this trip!

shit had my crying, "do you rlly believe in god?"
moments like geck talking with a man who is on the run from the FBI, that had a spiritual awakening while snorting LSD laced coke from a strippers ass , while the final fantasy 10 music is being played in the background is the reason why i'm so in love with this channel.
"nothing can stop me but the street dogs grabbing my tail" is a perfect quote for your merch haha

Hi Geck! My dad is Guatemalan, so I thought I’d share some info; The reason your google translate didn’t always work that well is because for a lot of Guatemalans, their first language is not Spanish. There are hundreds of Mayan languages spoken there, so a lot of people have an accent when speaking Spanish that you would probably not be able to pick up on unless you are a fluent Spanish speaker. That’s why google wasn’t exactly picking things up right. Also, sapo = toad, rana = frog, lagartija = lizard. People tend to use sapo and rana interchangeably, like how many people in the U.S. refer to tortoises as turtles.
Lyle this is actually one of the best video concepts i've seen probably ever: I legitimately think you could get a documentary or some sort of anthology series because this is such a beautiful way to analyze the human experience.

I loooved watching this. You just driving bulldozer style into the unknown and fear and seeing it be such a great experience... Really inspiring to me. Also reminds you how cool people actually are if youre just open and smiling, its really all you need. As a person whos trying to get over social anxiety stuff your content is very inspiring and insightful to me, genuinely. Even the regular call in shows, we all have something we can connect and share with eachother.
This is perfectly chaotic and wholesome
henry ripping a bowl and then saying I work in 1 minuet, touched my soul.
Slowly chewing while the man goes on about fermintation in the backgrouground was comic timing gold.
When you want to ask "what do you do for fun" but don't remember the words, you can use gestures like "dance" (bailar), "jugar juegos" (play games), "pelota" (ball)
This one motivated me to get out of bed today. Thanks Lyle!

ur learning so much spanish thats so fucking cool!!!! immersion works bro. also this format where u explore is so fun to watch pls keep doing it!!! 💖💖💖
As an American just seeing this video, Guatemala seems like a beautiful place to live and visit, Lyle had an awesome adventure and met some cool people
Lyle, I stumbled upon your channel only recently. I am coping with a lot of stress, anxiety disorders, lost my job due to that, generally speaking all the "civilized world" issues. But watching you being a real human being, interacting with others in present day world brings me hope, calmness, even inspiration. Thank you Mr. Gecko. You make my life better. And not only mine, I believe. You are a very good person, remember it.
i need a podcast with lyle and the fugitive
Thanks for this video geck! I grew up in Guatemala and Antigua is my favorite place, so seeing you walk around and talking to people really warms my heart and gets me nostalgic. I can't wait to go back again soon

Sapo actually means frog. Gecko is "salamanca" or "lagartija" I think all the conversations you had went pretty well. A very brave thing to do, travel like that. I love your content! 🐸
Hey dude, i discovered you from your video's in Japan. I think you're doing super great and i love watching the videos. You are very real and honest. Thank you for the videos and the beautiful interactions with everyone. Very motivating. Keep being real en yourself man.
keep finding yourself, king.
Lyle you are such a cool and kind soul
Two things, a "sapo" is a TOAD and Tortrix de Frijoles is the best chip in the world. I'm from Montréal, Québec, Canada but my mom is from Manzanotal, Zacapa, Guatemala. I've been there dozens of times since I was born. It really is a special place.
For having no plans, this video was so good
I love seeing Lyle interact with my latinoamerican friends!
The final fantasy 10 music playing in the background while that guy is describing his out of body experience was magical lmao
this was such a pure video. the Guatemalans were so kind :)
" lyle " " lyle??? " " lyle : -pedro
Nice to see kind human interactions. I work in customer care, and 90% of the time I'm greeted with immediate anger and insults. It really takes a toll on your mental health, and the work becomes draining but I still believe people carry positive and loving energy within them. Dreaming of the day I can book a flight to nowhere as well.
16:15 actually they think you're a frog too. sapo means like toad like big frog and rana is like the smaller frogs
Really great video Lyle hope you continue this as a series 💚
You're right about communication in the basics and facial expressions.
Epic, Geck. I think this is my new favorite place you've visited/ video. I hope you had a fun trip. (And you have the sweet lady's contact info)
Lyle, you are truly unique. Thank you for always brightening our days!
Geck uncovered the San Marcos spiritual yoga ayahuasca community pretty quick lol

LYLEEE this is truly your greatest video I've ever seen. Keep striving and prospering. You are an amazing individual!
This video is so great! I love seeing you interact with everyone regardless of language barriers that could create awkward situations you still persevere. It's truly inspirational to me and the rest of the world! Sincerely, socially anxious person. I love you Lyle!
DUDE! Thanks for visiting my parent's homeland as the gecko. I really appreciate you. If I was there, I would have loved to tag along the whole time and translate for you (if you needed it haha). I really loved the encounter with the Japanese girl. I was always into Japan growing up so my mind was blown, especially by her Spanish. This was great! Keep traveling 🇬🇹😁
Absolutely LOVED this video man, keep up the great work. So so interesting, kept my ADHD-self focused the whole time. With your own safety in mind, please keep these vlog-style videos coming
