    There's plenty of other smart ones, and dumb fun ones too. But Shin Godzilla is a good recent example that human characters or a serious plot isn't the problem, it's how you use the characters in the film. A shame not a lot of people(mainly critics) have seen it.

  • @androyus

    @androyus

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@redboy09100 People like *Shin Godzilla* coz the Godzilla scenes are awesome & creative for such little budget and limitation mandate from Toho. The human scenes are good satire & jabs towards the Japanese government that's full of red tapes (for example, the part where they need to move from one conference room to another is an intentional comedy). It's also a great alegory to the Fukushima disaster instead of the boring & tired atomic bomb. Rando Yaguchi & his rag-tag team of eccentric experts are also compelling protagonist & characters who perfectly embodied some capable younger generation who can take on an impossible challenge which the older generation failed to solve. Shin Godzilla is rich with art, action, culture, themes & heart. And the execution is impeccable.

    @@keatonburson2996 She also said Kong didn't want anyone to know he understood. Wouldn't be a secret if it could be easily observed by anyone else other than Jia herself lmao. Also, Kong never once did any of the exaggerated sign language Korey was doing before that-the one time he used it was to say something as simple as "home". I suspect Korey just wanted to do a stupid joke about sign language being like Tourette's and just fit that to whatever criticism that can be made about the movie, whether it actually makes sense or not. One could say his jokes are as nonsensical as the movie's pseudoscience.

    I agree with EVERY WORD! Well said, guys. I'm not going to sit here and say that it's some highbrow cinematic masterpiece. It's a versus movie about two giant monsters fighting. People should go into this with realistic expectations. So what I say is...for what it AIMED to be and what it AIMED to achieve? It knocked it out of the park. I LOVED IT. The film made me feel like a kid again. Hell it's almost a "feel good" movie. I was downright child-like excited during a ton of it. It was GREAT!

    No, no, no....not this guy or someone like YourMovieSucks. The latter only likes Independent films half the time, and the other one seriously has issues with just paying attention to a movie, and using CinemaSins techniques to review a movie. I love CinemaSins, but even they admit they're not being film critics in their videos. It's already a little annoying sometimes when some the stuff they do focus on as criticisms ends up in their videos (sometimes I agree with it, though). The Critical Drinker is already doing that, but a thousand times worse. I'm sorry, but the minute you've criticized ALL J.J. Abrams movies, you've lost me. I know J.J. Abrams is getting a little bit of flack right now, but dammit, he's not a bad director. Unlike Snyder who's a little too divisive from a critical standpoint, J.J. Abrams IS pretty much a good basic filmmaker, and in the best way. He knows the right tricks, he's very classical and old-fashioned in a good sense, and has a good way of making humor feel natural when he's at his best. How come he's not considered a director that some people are saying that even though listening to the studio too much caused him a few missteps, he's made a few good works? His picture is even someone that I look at thinking, "Oh, it's Jeremy Jahns, cool...", but then look at thinking, "Jesus, he's just another misogynistic a**hole reviewing movies trying to say that SJW stuff is bad." Even with someone like me getting annoyed at how social justice themes aren't quite done right when you aren't subtle enough about it is annoyed when some of these themes need to be addressed. This guy criticizing The Boys Season 2 for being too unsubtle and spending too much time on social justice issues (for a show about these issues in superheroes, even though I think they did explore it with just the right amount of time given that it's episodes, and not an hour and a half like Zootopia (not criticizing, and it's a movie that does get better upon rewatches) is just so far-fetched, because it feels like he's just criticizing the show for having racism commentary in it. It's not just that it's the majority opinion being against him, which I think is kinda reason enough (not always), but also much like other KZreadrs like him, he's just picking apart any movie that has what he perceives as commentary with no meaning. Granted, Captain Marvel and Mulan arguably suffer from this problem, and they aren't the worst things in the world, just ok (I guess...), but that's all his channel is filled with. His videos almost only consist of these movies that he thinks have an SJW problem. That is really sad.

I mean he’s right, why should humans want to depend on an unpredictable unstoppable lizard for protection? His only problem was using a regenerating alien planet destroying dragon brain to control it

  • @JinxSanity

    That's the thing people forget about Kong, he's always been more closer to humans compared to Godzilla where everybody just runs and screams, and I said that as a Godzilla fan. In all of Kong's movies he always connects to some human to show his personality while Godzilla tends to be a villain due to the 1st movie nuclear bomb metaphors. Even in that 1st Croseover fight, Kong officially won by Toho since he was popular at the time and Godzilla had only 2 movies as a villain, so yeah the angle they were going for this new movie is faithful to the old Toho series and not Kong being "sold" as a Hero as some of the more angry Godzilla fans have accuse the film of doing, like Angry Joe.

    This was a very entertaining movie. This was better than the 2014 Godzilla movie, KotM, imo. Spoiler As much as I love both. As a Godzilla fan, I knew Kong was no match for Godzilla, but a part of me was rooting for the underdog. I felt attached to Kong and sometimes felt sympathetic for him throughout the movie when he was up against Godzilla. Too bad there wasn't an after credit scene. I hope they do more with Ghidorah's skull. Bring in Mecha Ghidorah next!

    Godzilla's screentime is literally 15 minutes here....10-15 minutes is the average for his character in most movies and the exact screentime he had in the MV thus far. Crossovers don't always focus on both parties equally and even then godzilla isn't as emotional as kong so how would godzilla get as much screentime as kong?
