Stronger is relative, yes he is more powerful in many ways like the atomic breath but he cant handle weapons like kong, and weapons are the great equalizer. I love how this director made both Godzilla and Kong intelligent. They're not mindless animals/monsters. Kong remembered his first encounter with Godzilla and knew his only chance at defeating him was to turn his own power against him using the axe. Godzilla realized his mistake and adapted in the second part of this fight. He realized his own power could be his downfall, but once he fought Kong hand to hand (or claw), it was over.

it ws over once he got kong pinned and taken the fight to the ground where godzilla could bite and scratch kong and toss him like a rag doll using his body weight which is much heavier than kong.

@@Mutantgamer which we should give him major points for when he looked back up he analyzed what was going on he saw that kong needed help and he remembers what that axe can do when he charges it with his atomic breath so that's what he did and Mechagodzilla got what was coming to him you don't mess with the kings

This showdown did not disappoint. Totally worth the wait. This is bound to become one of the greatest battles in history.

​​@@ushermanriza4127 do you realise how expensive CGI and special effects are? plus the fight would have been unmatched, the point of it was to show Godzilla is far stronger, than Kong, so having the fight go on longer would have made it drag. Plus you can't just have monsters fighting for all the time before it gets boring.

@@40focals22 Because human lives can sometimes be worth it to save. In my estimate, we have 7.8 million folks living in it. Then comes the battle where we see lots, and Lots, and even LOTS of buildings demolished. Also, keep in mind that the evacuation was all done when Godzilla came to HK and boy, oh boy those people should stop having "Social Media Before Reason". Also, even when the battle was ongoing, still many people were dining and so only left when the battle came REALLY close to them. Having that estimate, I predict that the total number of people dead could be anywhere between 59K to 370K folks and that is terrible.

I really like how you can see the fighting experience difference between Kong and Godzilla. Kong has a lot of natural talent and advantage because he's quick and can actually use all four limbs, but Godzilla has just fought so much more.

No humans got hurt during that scene. Props to the cameraman, Godzilla and Kong for doing their own stunts.

You can actually see how much more comfortable and confident Kong is during this fight over the one they had at sea. He knows he’s at a major disadvantage since Godzilla is bigger, stronger, more durable, and has atomic breath. Not only was he naturally at a disadvantage, he had to fight hand-to-hand in close proximity in Godzilla’s home turf which put him at an even bigger disadvantage and you could see the concern in his eyes. Here you can see him more comfortable not only because he has the axe but because he knows he can use the surroundings to his advantage. It’s also kinda impressive that this was the first time Kong had actually seen and been in a city before and he used it well to his advantage

I'm sorry but Godzilla smiling/laughing after blasting Kong out of the air is hands down one of the greatest moments in cinematic history!!! 👍👍👍

Did anyone give any thought 2 the fact this is a weapon that kongs only had 4 what...well...however long it takes a 300 ft.ape to.climb out of a hole (im guessing here)8000 km deep.lol...ok so maybe a while. Anyway my point is hes smart and motivated. Perhaps with practice and a game plan could be a bit tougher for godzilla. I know ....buddys now but just sayn.

Only in this ONE MOVIE dose godzilla spam atomic breath. Godzillas atomic breath has to be charged up and sometimes is only used a few time a movie.

Godzilla's a badass crotchety old veteran with literally millions of years worth of battles under his belt. Kong's a kid who grew up in a rough neighborhood with a lot of potential and even more to prove (think Yusuke Urameshi from YuYu Hakusho). These fights, in my view, go exactly as they should.

Going into the film i was worried that they would have to just make excuses for why Kong was even on the same stage as Godzilla. I liked how they accepted that Kong really would be at a disadvantage against Godzilla, and made him an adversary that tries to fight smarter rather then harder.

the most unrealistic thing about this scene isn't the two monsters duking it out, but the resileance of the Hong Kong power grid

The fact how Kong gets capable and knows what he's doing like the parkour and hitting Godzilla with his axe, and of course Godzilla done great as well. Keep it up you two guys!

This fight did not disappoint. Best fight in the monsterverse next to the mechagodzilla fight.

I'm not saying my choice is better than yours, but I have never heard of people liking Bear McCreary's work in my circle. So this is utterly fascinating to me. ​@@salmanedy If you didn't know, one of the main criticism this movie received was the use of generic soundtrack. You can evidently see it in the comments on the list of Tom Holkenborg's OST list. While they seem to enjoy the soundtrack, it is NO match to Bear. The thing is, Tom didn't put any love to the characters, unlike Bear by using the Monsters original Theme song. He respected them so much that he hired REAL Buddhists to chant on the songs he used in the film, and even made a cover from a SONG dedicated to Godzilla in the end credits, that's true passion right there. This soundtrack is forgettable and generic, the usual KZread "Non Copyright Fighting Music" esc.

Thank you for sharing because I love how smart King Kong is. He keep the casualties to minimum, he used his resources and he never quit. Godzilla was his equal but in destruction. Yin and yang to parts to one whole. I love it

Godzilla is also smart

I love this fight and this movie, but I honestly wish this fight (and the final battle with MechaGodzilla too) had more "camera on the ground" moments instead of so many floating camera shots, to remind us really how huge and titanic these guys are.

Love that shot where the camera is on kongs shoulder charging towards godzilla in the beginning.

So many cool shots in this movie that add extra weight to the fights, that zoom in when MechaG first uses his rocket boosters, that moment in the sea battle where Kong jumps from one carrier to another etc. anyone hating on this movie is trying way too hard.

I especially love that you can actually see Godzilla getting ready to move out of the way during this shot, culminating in that expert backstep around Kong's leaping strike. It shows that Godzilla isn't just mindlessly taking hits and charging, but also knows his footing and when to duck out/around hits he can see coming.

@@GunlessSnake so epic man. I also love that long shot where kong and godzilla are in a bit of a bind and kong is grabbing godzillas jaw trying to break it and the atomic breath comes out so kong closes it then goes to toss godzilla away and the momentum pushes eachother back.

@@GSGNightCrawler yeah im glad godzilla did that, he gave kong an early sign that his signiture jaw breaking thing will not work on him. mainly because he has atomic breath and he has smaller and stronger mouth.

Everything, EVERYTHING about this fight was so clear, so smooth, the bad assness. Beautiful

When they flew out of the tunnel straight up past Kong, through the building while dodging through a building by Godzilla, and then flying by him while finishing it off with a spiraling move. Just amazing looking!

This movie is a visual masterpiece 10/10

There was also a battle scene in pacific rim 1 which gypsy vs otachi, was also have the similarities to the fight about the location( i dont say about the same location or not, just the similarities), but tho, the kong vs godzilla was still more dynamic

The big showstopper fight in Pacific Rim is still the top for me, but this is way up there.

Really enjoyed this movie 1:47 godzilla laughing at kong getting hurt very expressive

The way Kong blocked the atomic breath with a piece of a building and recovered the axe is the most bad ass scene in this movie🔥

Kong should be proud of himself, he charged fierlessly when other titans would have back down and gave the king of the monsters many good hits, even putting him nervous with the axe, its just that Godzilla has the trump card which is literally shooting an atomic beam from his mouth. My respects for you, King Kong

Man, does it bring joy to my heart to see two of my favorite kaiju just battling each other, with the gorgeous cgi and vfx. It really shows you how much time has passed since the original movie, when they were in costumes and props. In other words, am a kaiju fan, and always will be.

2:03 - 2:34, I bet everyone at the theaters could already tell that Legendary and Warner Bros wanted to make this scene to be a ride, and I would be the first one to get on it 🤣🤩

Godzilla is powerful, no doubt, but damn...I love the sound you hear when Kong's punches land. Godzilla took a beating.

That axe grab at 0:48 is like a litmus test for manliness. If you watch that and _don't_ immediately go _"Dang,_ that's awesome", then no amount of explaining's ever gonna make you get it

I love the first part of the fight when there’s no super loud music, just the fighting and sound effects, also when hits land, you can kinda hear them echo if you listen close enough

Wow look bright lights and color. Nice to see this in a movie and not everything grey.

I think that- inside the hollow earth where Kong & Godzilla's species originated from, the battles between their species would have been much more evenly matched because the giant apes would have been able to use that terrain much more to their advantage, swinging between giant pillars and putting obstacles between themselves and the great lizards that the atomic breath wouldn't be able to cut through like butter. Out on the surface where they have to fight on flat terrain and flimsy human buildings, Godzilla has a much much greater advantage.

I wish I could watch this movie all over again without knowing everything just to have that experience.

Dude, just imagine the casualties of this single fight.

That's where Godzilla is much more powerful than MechaGodzilla. You see Kong chopped Godzilla on the leg, also chopped on the head with a fully charged axe, didn't cut off his leg, or even made a scratch on his head. He is super durable.

0:18 I like how they all jump up from their chairs as if they had been sitting comfortably at dinner watching Godzilla and KingKong fighting "This is fine".

EXACTLY!!! That's what made it so epic! He knew he couldn't match him pound for pound. Godzilla is larger, stronger, invulnerable to most attacks. So he used his speed and agility against him. Whoever designed this fight and focused on each monster's strengths in battle was pure genius!

I've seen this movie at least 10+ times & watching this fight again...WOW!!!

No shaky screen beautiful visuals sound quality is fantastic very well done scene

I mean the sound effect and the CGI of this movie is over the top amazing. This movie deserves an OSCAR.

Anyone else feel that one shot of the flying car zooming in front of Kong and around Godzilla was totally for fans of theme park rides? It looked exactly like a shot you'd see on a Universal Studios ride

It's for scale. You focus on the monsters for two long and it looks like two people playfighting on a trainset.

Seen it a hundred times and still get chills watching this epic battle.

Special effects of this movie are grossly underrated
