I have the V1 and bought this AD100pro as my second light... originally wanted to buy the AD200 but since all my modifiers work on this and the weight and space savings... I opted for the AD100pro. I think it comes in handy while doing action photography stuff since it is super light weight and it fits everywhere. now saving up to get a AD300 as a key lights :)

This would've been perfect if that made it compatible with the iPhone. It's so small and Creative's would have jumped all over this as another option for lighting. And also at only $50 cheaper than the AD 200 Pro I am not sure it's worth it for me. I would rather stick with my 200's they aren't big and there's more power.

I think what allot of people are missing the point on these is that they are not for the user base that has the AD200PRO series. Look at the cooling vents on the side of the light my guess is that is to prevent heat build up. This will be an awesome light for event shooters utilising a flash bracket or setting these up around a dance floor. They will be extremely useful as a hair, rim or background light especially as they are easily gel/grid able. The price is slightly too high but we haven't seen the recycle times yet until then take a chill pill.

I question if the AD100 can pack a punch outside. Noticed when you use a softbox it had to be right in the face of the subject to make a difference & that looked like an overcast day. I think you would struggle to balance the light if you have a full sunny day. If this flash could balance the sky on a bright sunny day using HSS I would buy it straight away. It is compact & cross compatible with the V1. I would just have loved to see more power it.

Most have a V1 and 865 already, this price bracket doesn't make sense, most will choose the AD200 for only a few bucks. The release of this unit will increase the sales of the AD200 and the 865, guaranteed.

Godox I love your products and I like to use them. But an AD100 is completely pointless in my opinion. Either I take a V1 and can use it on the camera if necessary, or the AD200 Pro for a little more performance. For light shapers, I need the S-Bracket for both and the difference in pack size is negligible. Sorry, but if the AD200 Pro doesn't fit in the bag, then I have the wrong bag ... What's next? An AD50 Pro for $ 249 or an AD150 for the pres of an AD200 Pro?

    Same tought... It's just a 30watt different from V1. And there's Ad200pro already giving good performance. Same goes to Ad300 & Ad400.

How do you mount a V1 to a lightstand? Which would be easier to use on a lightstand? Ad100 or V1? I never use on camera flash. And for a ultra light kit, a Ad100 with a ultralight Carbon lightstand sounds great. For accent lighting in a scene even better. Basically, it's not for every use. But it gives you another option. That's what I like about Godox. They're covering all bases. You don't need every light they have. But if you have a need for a certain light, they're going to have it. Name another Lighting manufacturer that is doing that?

@@mverick160 If you only want to use an umbrella with an umbrella holder, with a light shaper just like the AD100 Pro with the S2 Bracket from Godox. If you never use a flash on the camera, I wouldn't buy a V1 either. Personally, 100 W would be a bit tight for me and therefore I prefer the AD200 Pro for $ 50 more. But of course, when 100 W is long and the last millimeter of space is important, the AD100 is an alternative. You're right, of course, the variety that godox delivers is good, but I think increments of 100 watt steps are simply excessive.

@@marcusfrank3271 The V1 with grids or the AKR1 dome or gels, makes a nice lighting option for objects in a picture for accents. Think of a picture of a house at night with house lights that aim at all windows. Have a V1 with AKR1 modifiers to light a plant, bookcase, stairway railing, etc. Accent lighting. And also easy to use indoors at night. This makes it easier to use on a lightstand. So instead of 3 V1's. I can keep 1 v1 to have the option for on camera and use 2 of these on lightstands for accent lighting. And if travelling for shoots they can easily be tossed in for night shoots as in a reverse mount small softbox it would provide nice lighting. The Ad100pro has a umbrella bracket built in the mount so no S2 needed for it to use umbrellas. And to be honest I have some Umbrellas that are small softboxes. Even some that are 50x50. But doubt I'd use something that big with this. And I agree with you on part of this. It's limited use. But it actually limits the use of speedlights to me more. As no need for those since this has a much better way to mount on a lightstand to use. Why buy 3 speedlights? Buy 1 to use on camera if you need it, and these for the rest. I still like the V1 because with the shoe mount I can sit it low to light things easily. And this is coming from a guy who uses 3 ad1200pros for lighting regularly and wants a ad3600pro. I see options for this and the ability to adjust at the camera for all lighting is great. It expands the ability to add more kicker lights into a scene. When I only want a lil bit of light.

Aghhhh, Godox, what's your secret for making every new product so sexy and desirable ?? !!! :-) Thank you Aries for this "in the street" test : I love the pictures at 2'38'' and more at 3'55'' : congrats !!! I'd love to test it in the streets of Paris !! However, 3 suggestions and desires : 1) a braket-adapter to mount it on my camera hotshoe : it would compensate for the little lack of power of my V1, little more power I need sometimes for weddings photography ! 2) have also the G Godox mount on it, to be able to adapt for ex the great AD-S65(W for me !) and to be able to shoot in the streets of Paris with a very light system, creating however a very soft light on my models...But I know, in this case, no more AKR1 accessories possible...except if your engineers find a solution for easy swaping ! 3) of course, during summer, it will be not powerfull enough...except if you add an optional Fresnel plastic lens, like on the AD200, which is very efficient...but in this case, you will not sell AD200 anymore, lol ! Best regards, Jean-Noel www.jeannoelmartin.com
