Got mine a few weeks ago (kingpin i), the fretwork is on point on mine! The overall quality is really nice, so I am also surprised based on the price. I have experience doing fretwork on my guitars and building guitar kits on my own (as a hobby), so I think I have decent appreciation of finishes and stuff. Sound-wise is exactly what I was looking for a woody warm sound in the middle of an electric and acoustic. Really nails that Grant Green P90 sound!

Right on! Glad you got a gem. Thats how line guitars work. Some are gems and some stink. These p90s do sound great for sure.

New guitars dry out over time. When I first got my Kingpin II it was summer of '20. Of course, I gave it a good inspection on arrival. All was great, including the frets, which were beautifully done and polished. Deep into winter, the home heat really dries the house. Even with a humidifier in the music room, I got neck shrinkage and fret sprout on several guitars, the Godin included. I was actually surprised at the amount of sprout on the Godin. I figured the dry season (in the house) was the best time to address the fret ends. Very easy to do and didn't take long. I'm glad I did, it has not returned, going on the 3rd winter now. I don't get the noise that you talk about from the bridge. I assume you've checked all the hardware, nuts, etc.

New guitars dry out over time . . . that would not make it a new guitar then. The guitar is brand new shipped direct from Godin. Frets are not dressed or polished. I am not talking about shrinkage. Your recommendation to check hardware and nuts leads me to believe you are not quite sure what I am even talking about. Glad you like your guitar and didnt get a dud!

Rough fret work can be a drag. I always test guitar neck by running a finger along the side of the neck. If it feels like a hack saw, then the fretwork is lacking.

Ya for sure any sharp edges can mean poor fret work or also shrinkage.

Great looking guitar. Too bad it isn't where it needs to be for playing 😢

Its decent for basic playing but whoever forgot to do the frets is on another level.
