God Wants A Living Sacrifice: Romans 12:1

Perhaps we need to get out of our comfort zone and remember what God has called us to. What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? What inspires such devotion and what does it look like in our daily lives? It's time to get really practical about our worship. This is part of a verse by verse series throught the book of Romans with pastor Mike Winger.

This is so enlightening and simply amazing to listen to. I have given myself to Christ about two months ago and, coming from a non Christian household, I know I've got so much to learn. Teachers and teachings like this are invaluable to new followers. Thank you God and thank you Pastor Mike.

@@frostprism7267 Hello. Better late than never haha. It's good. I went down a bad path of dead works, this lead me to a horrible place. But I'm a lot better, and I understand the simplicity of salvation. Sometimes I even realise it and it's glorious. I guess this might be a part of that spiritual warfare Paul wrote of in Ephesians.

Ok, so I first discovered one of your sermons on homosexuality and Christianity. Short version, I'm a fairly new Christian and I'm busy working through a whole bunch of issues as it relates to my sexuality right now. I made the decision a while ago to be celibate and that happened to lesser or greater degrees of success, but of late since recommitting myself to Christ and wanting to know more about my purpose - I was lead to Romans 12:1 in my bible study this evening, which in turn lead me onto this video. Pastoor, I don't think you know how many truth bombs you dropped here. My mind is literally BLOWN. Like I need to watch this video again...and probably again and more than likely....again. Living sacrifice. To put aside one's own desires and wants in service of God. I'm starting to get it now. Thank you, thank you, thank you - from the bottom of my heart. Much gratitude all the way from Cape Town.

This verse has been on my mind about the living sacrifice and I happened on this video… This challenged me and I’m gonna have to watch it over and over probably so I can get a better understanding of this living sacrifice. Was thinking how hard it is to be a Living Sacrifice and really feeling a bit dejected (knowing I get angry with people and have very little patience) Thank you for reminding us of the verse "Well done good and faithful servant." That gives me my purpose to live for, to hear Him say that to me. How glorious to hear that from our Lord when we are finally with him. Thanks for the hope Pastor Mike!

I would like to add that the living sacrifice is referring to the image of Christ, he was a living sacrifice, we are to be brought into this image, a perfect and pure sacrifice before god, without blemish, to seek perfection to become perfect as Christ is perfect, perfect man, perfect woman, perfect sons and Daughters of God, the highest calling.

Amen! Thanks so much brother for your hard work. Your teachings have encouraged me in many ways and this teaching is a great blessing. I’ve been praying a lot about these things and I’ve been asking God to help me see where I need to rise up to what he’s called me to do and of course, he’s been faithful. I appreciate your careful handling of Gods word. I’ve learned a lot from you about how to read and study the word and think biblically. I’m thankful to Christ for gifting you the way he has and for the godly character you model. I also appreciate the way you model Paul’s method of answering possible questions we might have as listeners of these teachings and broadening the way we should think about complex topics. Love you brother. God bless you and your family. All praise and glory to God. Thank you for your faithful service to our King

[17] Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. [18] For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

I want very much to be a pleasing living sacrifice to my God though I've only been a Christian for a few months so I'm very new at this. I am trying to incorporate this more into my life, honoring my parents better, being more patient, keeping my words clean, working harder for my boss, etc. I still often fall short...very often. I'm trying though. I would really like some clarity on something though. Is it ok to have personal hobbies? I really enjoy things like reading fantasy novels, playing videogames, camping, things like that. Is this ok? I'm hoping for kind and sincere guidance from my more experienced brothers and sisters in Christ.

we have had God's name since 280BC.. hasn't changed since Jesus manifested it to us in the first century: Ego Eimi; Kurios (Kurios sabboath); Theo; Pantakrator; Iesous and Eli... Those are the names God chose to document and circulate world-wide at the dawn of common literacy with the LXX and NT and there wouldn't be another name known under heaven until those Jews published the Talmud in the 11th century AD.... so unless you think God is an idiot who forgot to give us His name for the 1st 14 centuries of Christianity and Jesus did not mean what He said in John 17:6 ... those are the _only_ names God saw fit to document and Jesus saw fit to manifest.

Jesus read the name of the true God out to all those in his local Synagogue and the name is clearly written in the part he read from. Luke 4:17, 18 o the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him, and he opened the scroll and found the place where it was written: 18 “(- - - - ) spirit is upon me, because he anointed me to declare good . . .
