I think this scenario is more acceptable imo. Killing kratos although it will help with arteus developing his rage and violence and starting snother revenge story, but it will make a lot of people sad and they may drop the game. @@rickymcn1 I don't think it's that he didn't have the emotional tools for it, I mean if you play the original games specially those that are just side stories you see how loving and caring he is towards his daughter and how he cares so much for Pandora within the main story line (that broke me when he gives up his quest in favor of keeping Pandora alive only for Pandora to sacrifice herself and him being unable to save her), meaning he always has had the tools for it. I think he doesn't think himself deserving as he sees himself as a monster after all he did in the main trilogy, He thinks himself only capable of destruction and hurting those he loves even if he doesn't mean too. It is until he tells Athena " I am you monster no longer" that his thoughts change, that he stops thinking "I am a monster that destroys and hurts all around me" and starts thinking " I will be a monster for the sake of protecting my son, those I care fore and what I currently value." He knows and accepts what he is completely but he also allows himself to be that caring and loving father he once was to his daughter towards his son after that line. Sure he is more stoic towards Atreus than he was probably towards he previous two children but I think it's cuz he isn't just raising Atreus as a son but teaching him as a master would his best pupil. He is loving caring and stern as a father when it is appropriate but also stoic, guiding and strict as a master when appropriate.

    Probably doesn’t need to be said, but Kratos truly is an awesome character. Growing up with the old games, I just saw him as an unstoppable force. Full of rage, anger, and nothing more. Seeing him face an inner battle and overcoming most things, still has much to learn. On top of raising a son. I played the 2018 game mindlessly. Recently went back to 100% it as my first Plat trophy and hearing what he has to teach his son makes me feel hopeful. For I struggle with things as well, not his struggles, but in a way I feel I do in a metaphorical manner. I’ve come to become obsessed with his story and I hope there is more after Valhalla

    Man seeing this after Ragnarok hits harder. It's just so beautiful seeing Kratos' growth as a person. He went from a cold, stone headed, ruthless man to being the most loving father who can share his emotions with his son. He can now show emotions, he can now smile, cry and mourn for others. Also seeing Atreus get his act together, acting more maturely, gives the impression of a young, great warrior which even Kratos admits. God Of War is a masterpiece, in every sense.

  • @thinkingsimon
    @thinkingsimon Жыл бұрын

    This is so well edited, It shows how much kratos's character progresses throughout the game, In the first minute or two he says, Leave my home, Trying to keep everyone out, When mimir asks "He doesn't know what you are?" Kratos is trying to keep his past away from him, Trying to forget all the things he had done, But everyone is talking of his life before, Baldur, Freya, Mimir, He keeps saying "Leave. My. Home" Trying to force those memories out, His Home being the peace he found, His home is not just the house, It is the feeling of calmness within himself, It is the sense of relief he had with Faye, He is telling them to leave his home because he doesn't want the peace he found to be ruined, He wants to live a "Normal" life and these people to him are invading that, He wants to leave his life of fighting and wars behind, He is a man that was a destroyer, Someone who no longer wants to fight anymore, He hasn't come to terms with his past, He is trying to avoid it, Deny it... Mimir asks "You value your privacy more than your son? The longer you wait to tell him his true nature the more damage you do, He will resent you and soon, You will lose him forever " And it shows kratos realised what he is doing to his son, When atreus falls sick, He says "I did this to him?" With realization washing over him, He knows now that he has only been pushing his son further away from him, Freya then says "I know the truth isn't simple, But nothing is when it involves your child, Don't make the same mistake, Have faith in him" And kratos sees what he had done, And begins to try and mend it, As it gets closer to the end he explains why he kept telling everyone it "Was not of their concern" He had wished his son not go through the pain he went "I had wished to spare you, Being a god...It can be a lifetime of anguish and tragedy.....That is the curse" Then after he now starts to accept it. Rather than avoid it, He says "We do it together, Son" Kratos becomes closer to atreus after seeing what he had done, He was torn between keeping his secrets, And caring for his son, But now, Kratos has changed, Instead of worrying what could happen, What has happened, He now cares for the life of his son, And valuing the time he has to spend with atreus, I don't even have the words to say about this, It is just... Amazing video man, It shows a lot of what the story is, And shows the development from kratos, Well done...

    1:27 „look around at what you have done“ the absolute mayhem that unfolds in front of Kratos ...while the olympians were certainly blameworthy for what they did to him at least they held nature in its place or in peace. Kratos annihilating the Olympian’s one by one puts the world in their natural order...which is Chaos.

    A good example of why young boys need strong father/male figures as well, more so in our society where that’s been threatened through entertainment and politics. Good job encapsulating that dynamic of the story through this edit.

    Facts. Movies and shows have already ruined what Men are for me. Video games on the other hand shows us what we could be. Games tell us that we can be strong great Men. Meanwhile movies and shows tell us that we're shit just by being male.

    I didn't have a father figure growing up. I witnessed my dad beat up my mom when i was 5. Then he just vanished. He only came to the house to buy us some food. But he never talked to me. He never asked me how i was. He wanted nothing to do with me. Im 30 years old now. I haven't had a girlfriend. Im lonely af. Ive been bullied as a kid by cousins and schoolkids. I lost my confidence. They showed me pornography when i was 6. Ive been addicted to it since then. Im struggling still.

    I love how Kratos is trying to teach Aterus to act violent within self defence however Kratos pass was full of rage and murder and he regretted it. He just wants his son to not fall down the same path of despair as him, protecting him, guiding him out of the mistakes he made. Poor actions for a god but not a father.

    What a masterpiece my friend. I was always looking for a fully edited video about kratos's journey, but this is far beyond than what I was expecting. The video is beautifully edited with the music and the ordering of the scenes is just fantastic. And you have added the best phrases of Kratos while he was teaching his son. You made me get more excited for the next game Ragnarok. I am so thankful for you :) Just don't stop making videos similar to this. We still have a lot of iconic characters.

    The thing about kratos is that he cannot die from age neither by damage because he will always come back because of fate telling him he will always suffer, the older he is the stronger he gets the more he has to hold back he is becoming scared of his powers, that's why he became tired in ragnarok he couldn't take it, he is filled with cursed strength and immortality.

    What I love about this game and Rangarok's arc for Kratos is that it brings his position full circle and puts him in the opposite position he was in before. Perfectly symbolised by the art of him on the Urn versus the art of him in Faye's shrine. He's gone from a destroyer to a protector. An usurper to a liberater. A monster to a father.
