I hope that before they watch Ragnarok they watch the History Of Kratos. It’s actually very necessary to see how he went from being practically a villain in the older games to one of the most complex characters in video game history. Also I wish that “MassiveG” (the guy that edited this video) had shown more of the fact that Tyr had actually visited other realm throughout different mythologies, like in the bottom of one of the tapestries in Tyr’s vault it showed ancient Egypt, feudal Japan and the Aztec empire. Meaning possible locations for future games.

40:56 Yeah thats probably one of the most underrated things about Kratos. A lot of people forget or underestimate how smart kratos really is. I get why though. He's always angry, rarely speaks, and the games don't particularly focus on his intelligence. But when you realize certain things about him like the fact that he solves all these puzzle sections in games, or accomplishes things that even gods can't figure out. He figured out a way to escape helheim in this very section when Mimir and Freya both said there's no way back. Thats just the icing on the cake too. There's a reason why the gods in the previous games favored kratos so much and called upon him to do some of the most impossible tasks. He literally had to figure out a way to put the sun back at one point when it was stolen. Thats not something I would just trust a mortal to do, but they made him do it anyways. He also found pandora's box and discovered a way to get through Daedalus's Labyrinth to name a couple extra things. None of those are simple tasks to do in the slightest, and then when you combine all the experience he's racked up over the centuries, you come to realize even more how smart he is. Atreus definitely gets a lot of his smarts from kratos. 41:51 Its funny that you say that because that would make sense for an in game reason. The developers said the real reason why he calls Atreus Boy all the time was because they didn't come up with a name for Atreus until later on in the game. But for an actual in game reason that would make sense considering he rarely calls anyone by their real name until he grows closer to them in some sort of way. You'll see more of that side of things later on in the series though.

There's also the fact that Kratos was the youngest Spartan to become a Captain/General that gets to lead his own army. Proving that he has a very strategic mind to be able to lead so many soldiers at a young age.

When Atreus started Wilding out, I was like, "This kid needs the belt." When he talked back to Kratos after killing Modi, I went, "The belt is unbuckled now and in my hand. He gonna be feel this Belt of Chaos in a minute"😂😂😂😂

The thunderstorm was created by Thor while he was beating Modi. He was disappointed in him not protecting Magni and beat him as discipline.

Just like a fyi bout the game,when you be playing this part of the game (the Square button is a dedicated button for Atreus to shoot his arrows)when he was in his disobedient phase the AI would make him shoot whatever he wanted to shoot without you pressing the button. Idk it was just cool how Santa Monica added that mechanic in the game,it was soo impressive how they combined the story and the gameplay together.

Another big reason why Kratos was reluctent to share the truth about their divine nature. With godhood comes great arrogance and Kratos only learned the destructive nature of that the hard way.

Yeah that has always bugged me about got universe, that the dragonriders never bothered to armour their dragons especially when going to war.

Fun fact : in original trilogy Kratos was actually the villain (anti hero if it makes more sense) and in god of war 2 the Colossus of rhodies theme song was against Kratos.

Fun fact tho back in Ancient Greece throwing an apple at a crush was basically you confessing your love to them (because in the mythology 3 goddesses went to a man to ask which of them is the most beautiful and the man threw an apple at Aphrodite, so the Greeks believed if they threw an apple at the women they loved and the women catches it, it was meant to be) so when Sindri threw an apple at Kratos he thought sindri was confessing his love for him😂

Glad you've been enjoying so far, God of War 2018 was my introduction to the series and I'm not even joking when I say it changed the way I view and play video games, such a good time! I've seen a lot of comments saying that you should watch History of Kratos or the cutscenes of previous games, and personally I'd say it depends on how interested you are in Kratos' past. God of War 2018 is still amazing as a standalone game/experience.

honestly, god of war 2018 as a standalone is still fucking amazing, even if you don't watch the previous installments... BUT, watching and knowing his past, will definitely enhance the experience from playing 2018. You'll understand Kratos side of the story more... Why he hates gods, Why he thinks being a god is a curse, Why he hides his godhood from Atreus and Why he hides his past!

By nature of being the 'fourth' 'numbered' game in the series, you're supposed to know a few things about Kratos. The game expects you to know who Kratos is and details about his past, so it never actually gets around to explaining a lot of it. The long and the short of it is that Kratos was a demi-god warrior who rebelled against Olympus and is responsible for killing basically every Olympian God, which destroyed Greece in the process. He also tried and failed to kill himself, which is why he's moved to Norway.

Cory Barlog (Game director) has stated Kratos is a full God. I guess maybe they retconned the idea of Demi-God or perhaps there never was a concept of it. In lore, Athena made him full God after Ghost of Sparta, but it could simply be he inherited Ares's Godhood abilities which doubled Kratos's own Godhood.

I’ll not telling you why because of spoilers, but atreus wasn’t causing the storms. It was zeus in those visions in helheim, that scene was gow3 ending, beating zeus in first person then jump back to old kratos on first person pov was on point and gave me chills the first time i played this game
