    The bass player, Jim Rodford, would go on to play with The Kinks on their mid-seventies - early-eighties albums before joining Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone in the reformed Zombies. He died tragically back in 2018 from a fall.

    Argent “In Deep” was in almost constant rotation in our house when it came out. HUGE influence.. such an incredible album. We all missed you last night for the Seals and Crofts episode, StephanieJeanne! Hopefully you’re surviving the holidays and all those aunties. 🌲

    Saw Russ Ballard (the singer and principal songwriter) a couple of years ago. He was awesome. Russ also wrote 'Since you've been gone' and 'I surrender' which were two big cover hits for Rainbow

    @@hoosfoosfullhis stage right cymbals are oriented in height from low to high and in distance from nearer to farther from the drummer. Also, his entire drum kit is set up such that the drums are very far apart, requiring extra physical effort to play. Pretty silly, but ergonomics weren’t really at top of mind in those days.

    What's the story on the "Swiss Cheese" Fender style guitar? Was it an actual Fender guitar?

    Apparently yes, at that time there were no luthiers making copies of guitars. He made or had the holes made and some other changes to the Stratocaster's body, etc. I've seen him using it with a Telecaster neck too.

    @@delmedeiros3570 Maybe, maybe not. There were plenty of cheap Japanese guitars with Fender shaped headstocks back then. Best guess is an actual Fender though.

    I think it was a Fender Stratocaster that was modded outside of the factory. Definitely not a production piece. Imagine the weight was less than five pounds and east on the back. I was wondering about the possibility of neck drives. I remember Joe Sanitri had some guitars ( Ibanez ) with holes and handles in them.

    @@curtisphilumalee1447 I found out it was a 60's era stratocaster originally. Last video I seen it in and it's got a silver body with a telecaster neck and a modern pick guard with a humbucker in the bridge position. With the modern 5 way switch he's added the middle pickup back too.

    @@westsidecaterKiss were definitely doing their best to pretend it was their own song, when their version came out. The fact is, Audiences didn’t care that much who the writer was in those days. KZread has completely changed the landscape as far as music appreciation is concerned.

    Many of them were live but some may be prerecorded... I know almost all the ones in the last season or so are lip syncs. This one is looking awfully suspicious but it may be live? Either way great song

    God also gave us Midnight Special. It's 50 years ago! These are precious recordings just as they are. As well as the rare access to seeing the great bands of the day besides in concert. No, people were not complaining about the lip sinking back then.
