About Sweet Briar Farm
We are a small farm located in Central/Northern Michigan. We farm every inch of our 6 acres. We breed Registered Dairy Goats, Dexter Cattle, and Heritage Hogs. Clean healthy food is important to us and we like to produce the majority of our food on the farm and we grow and raise enough to sell to local customers. Producing our own food also means we forage for wild edibles such as mushrooms and tap our maple trees in the spring to make maple syrup. In 2019 we added honeybees to the farm and have had as many as 30 active hives producing honey for us.
Our goats include Nubian goats, Mini Nubians, Fainting Goats, and Nigerian Dwarf goats.
Our Heritage Hogs include: Registered Kunekune Pigs and Hereford pigs!

❤🎉I raised goats for 20 years. Mine all wore collars too. Get a lead rope and take them out one at a time or 2 at a time with 2 people and teach them to walk on a lead rope! Much easier for all involved. I had boar for meat, nubians for milk and 2 angoras for fiber. I spin and made cheeses. All the goats had to be handled to shear, trim hooves or milk. It's so much easier to snap on a lead rope and safely walk them to your task. Or, just go on a really fun walk!

We were trying to sell all the Nigerians but fall is the worst time to sell livestock. So we might as well breed them 😄

Always lead the goats by their ear. It is easy for you and the goat. And it is not painful once the goats learn.

Are goats like deer? Where they can be bred several times resulting in multiple fetus?
