Should be noted - production of modern a cappella music like this adds a sub-octave to the bass track to give it the "oomph" you're used to from normal pop track. A lot of the bass depth you're feeling from the track is artificial (as it is in pretty much every college a cappella album from the past 20 or so years). Every once in a while a group will get REALLY strong basses that can sing down to a D2 or slightly lower and hit those notes SOLIDLY, and when that's the case producers will absolutely feature that voice if it's consistent, but even then it's still going to be backed up with a sub-octave to REALLY push it over the top. Source - produced a few a cappella albums, and am friends with far better producers than I am. I worked on far more, directed a group in college through their first album recording (voice major), and arranged a TON...only got one arrangement on BOCA, but still learned quite a bit. Love Vocal Point (arrangements and solos are always on point), but they use the same production tricks that the rest of us do!

17 years ago on the day my son was to be born and during a very long labor, I ran home to get something for my wife. I was called back right away due potentially fatal emergency that developed during labor. As I rush back, "Go the distance was playing on the radio" I was hoping my unborn son would too (go the distance). It has sort of been his theme song through life. Would it be unmanly of me to say this version brought a tear to my eye.

I remember in a music history class, my professor told the class about these singers called castratos. They were choir boys who got their testicles removed so they would never hit puberty and keep their high pitched voices. The last one died in the 1930s.

I have often dreamed, of a far off place Where a hero's welcome, would be waiting for me Where the crowds will cheer, when they see my face And a voice keeps saying, "This is where I'm meant to be" I'll be there someday, I can go the distance I will find my way, if I can be strong I know every mile, will be worth my while When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong Down an unknown road, to embrace my fate Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you And a thousand years, would be worth the wait It might take a lifetime, but somehow I'll see it through And I won't look back, I can go the distance And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat It's an uphill slope, but I won't lose hope Till I go the distance, and my journey is complete But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part For a hero's strength is measured by his heart Like a shooting star, I will go the distance I will search the world, I will face its harms I don't care how far, I can go the distance Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms I will search the world, I will face its harms Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms

I am currently being assessed for PTSD, I probably have a variant called Cptsd. The first trauma I can remember, was when I was 6 years old. There have been a number since. This song is a great encouragement for me. Seeing the child singing alongside the adult, for me is symbolic of the child who lived through the trauma, and the adult now who has to put his life together. Thanks.

Hitchslap What you said was not only disrespectful, but verbally and emotionally assaulting and abusive. I will not allow someone to slander me. If you do it again, I will report your comment as harassment. Furthermore, I was not being stuck up. I know you cannot tell the tone of my voice through online communication, but I was serious. God is real, and I was asking the commenter to use His name respectfully- regardless of whether or not he believed God was real. We should always be respectful of other people's beliefs, even if we don't agree. God IS real; whether you believe it or not doesn't change the truth of what is. I'm grateful Jesus Christ really did come to earth and pay for my sins, shortcomings and pain- that he loved me enough to give His life for me. It may not be popular to believe in Him now days, but I know this is true. I know He came to pay for your sins too. He loves all of us and wants us to come Home to live with Him again. I'm truly sorry you've allowed experiences in your life to harden you and make you hateful. Jesus taught a message of peace, love, and forgiveness. He provided a way for us to become better. I'm grateful He IS real.

What you said is important, and I agree. However, if I could offer my advice, it isn't always the best idea to go correcting others when their actions don't directly affect you. I appreciate your testimony, however
