Sir can we do masters degree through online courses while being outside US and then PhD in US? How difficult is a Phd for a married woman with child? Is it possible to do? We plan to come to US after our EB5 is processed in a couple of years, so was wondering if this kind of option can work for me.

Another good thing, is gaining permanent residence under the higher priority category , where as masters or bachelors never reach it even though you are in high work positions in the future.

Say, can an Indian PhD grad, such as myself, work for a visiting position for a year or two, to be "eligible" for a tenure track position? (Supposing I have decent publications). The biggest reason to do PhD is high chance for Green Card...not easy others...great opportunity for GC in present times.

Professor, I am an undergraduate student and want to pursue my career in research domains. I have already worked with a few labs and have been successful in publishing some research articles. Will joining a Ph.D. directly after my undergraduate be a wise decision in academic and financial terms? @desiamericanprofessor

the world is evolving upon research but it is too undefeated in terms of financial compensation, just for example, if two peers after completing their bachelors graduated 2009 one joined a decent company and saved $25K on the first year and invested it on amazon ( its the first company clicked in my mind so things may vary) stock price 100$ so 250 stocks which now would worth 30X more @ $3000~ so his return would be now 750K, and wait ! this is only o/p of 1 year of saving if you do this for consistently for 10 years you will be ahead 3M$ ahead figure may be exaggerated but it's practical. :(

Basically PhD is like a bachelor's for international students in terms of length and experience. You get time to adjust to a new country and plan your career carefully instead of looking for internships in your first semester.

I don’t agree with you. Without knowing basics in Sciences no point of doing MS. Only advantage is about PhD is getting scholarship and no tuition fees as Supervisors pay your fees. Disadvantage of PhD is if you don’t clear qualifying exam then you are out of the course. If you have done MS then there is advantage for you .
