🔍 WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
• How to practice effectively at home
• Six levels of the drill with increasing difficulty
• Exercises on pairing "der, die, das" with appropriate nouns and more!
• Focus on challenging grammar concepts like noun gender, case declensions, and more
📖 Sections:
0:00 Intro - Go beyond 'dabbling' in German
1:02 Drill 1 - Noun gender
3:50 Drill 2 - Plural nouns
6:18 Drill 3 - Verbs
9:29 Drill 4 - Declensions
13:03 Drill 5 - Accusative Case

📌 DRILL PREVIEW:
Set up columns for articles, nouns, verbs, and adjectives, for example.
Create sentences by picking from each column, focusing on correct gender and case alignment.
Examples:
"der Opa ist alt" (The grandfather is old)
"die Schwester ist klein" (The sister is small)
"das Kind ist freundlich" (The child is friendly)
🔄 REPEAT & MASTER:
Remember, repetition is the mother of skill. This drill is designed to be done multiple times, each with a new focus.
💡 Pro Tip: This exercise is excellent for mastering noun gender in the nominative case - crucial for speaking German correctly!
Whether you're using Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone, or any other platform - this drill is an excellent complement to your learning journey.
Bis bald und viel Spaß beim Üben! 💬📚

Nice video. As complex as the German language is, it would be interesting to know what percentage of native speakers have a through mastery of it. As a native English speaker of the United States, it's amazing how many grammatical mistakes I see when reading news articles.
@GermanwithLaura
7 ай бұрын
That would be an interesting statistic to know, I agree. There probably are a good percentage of Germans that also do not know their grammar well.

That's true. I'm German and in 5th grade, people kept saying "ich fande es....so und so" when talking about someone's story or report we discussed. Our teacher was really annoyed and kept saying there's no such word as "fande". 😂 Yet, I think most people speak grammatically correctly, with very few exceptions, without thinking about it. As for newspapers articles, many journalist have studied Germanistik at university, but I'm sure it happens occasionally 😉. Nobody is perfectly...
Home run!!!!!!!! Excellent video...thank you :)

I would love this as a listening game where I have to fill in the blank from the various sentences. Then the correct sentence is repeated after to ensure I got it right to repeat and drill. This is the first video of yours I stumbled upon! Been studying German speaking for a year now. (Also would also really like a pdf worksheet to print out if you make those, I’ll check you website 😊)

Thanks Laura this is quite an inspiring video for me. I have expanded a little on your idea and set it up in Excel. It is still work in progress, but working across in landscape mode, I have added the Te Ka Mo Lo columns and final verb slots. My grammar is reasonable good, but my vocabulary is relatively poor as I don't get the opportunity to communicate with German speakers. Using your suggested thematic approach, I feel this approach will help me greatly. I have linked my spreadsheet to my grammar notes and word lists, so I don't have far to look for a reference.
