Damm, the last part about old memories and enjoying things while they last really hit something different and I never even played Gmod, then again it's a universal feeling.

If we have another world crisis, good chance the user base will increase back to mid 10's levels. Mid pandemic, most servers were packed. Many like myself all the sudden had lots of free time so revisiting childhood memories were a must. Great video by the way!

There is a version of the map that someone has put a script into it that shows the so called "shadow people" in the game. e.g. in the windows, shop window, beside walls, etc.

I always see Gmod on my steam library, I don’t have many games on my pc since I focus on working out, but every time I download it again it’s like every time I play, it’s just not the same how I enjoyed it. I always played with my cousins we had wars every one second and that one person who was good at every game always sat ontop of buildings and sniper us all, They’re all 18 now and I’m still 14

Good just feels like a backrooms place of liminal space of having 100 people following me and a Glock the size of a motorcycle and 500 hamburgers but it still feels lonely even with an army of cod machine gunners but it still feels lonely it still just feels like those armies are just see through like having an army of dust particles and it feels like I can see hundreds of miles of stuff to explore but it still feels like I can’t go there

I live in Australia also, I haven’t tried playing online yet, I’ve been meaning to, I only bought the game late last year. If you have friends on steam and they have GMod, you could play with them.
