Ultimately, (pun intended) it is a nice lineup with a few market segments that can be filled using the Ultium modular design. (Fleet work pickup) The issues that are common across all of GM’s EVs are: + Currently they are too expensive for a large section of the public and GM’s production techniques are such that they are losing money on each vehicle sold. + For those who need to drive long distances frequently or cannot charge at home, the charging infrastructure isn’t there (pending entry to the Tesla SC network). + The Ultium battery technology is already out of date before the factories are even completed. -GM partnered with the wrong battery supplier in LG rather than CATL. + Shortage of trained EV repair technicians.

I am unsure if you are an ultium car owner. If not, my perspective as an owner is a bit different. My local dealer has a certified tech for EVs. It is my understanding a GM dealer need have one complete training before they are allowed to sell EVs. They also need a lift with more lifting power to accommodate the heavier weight. For Ultium form factor pouch being out of date, I do not know if I agree. The form factor allows for a slight efficiency in space vs cylindrical. They are also coming out with Ultium branded LFP for the Bolt relaunch. As for expensive, I got a ModX competitor in my garage with more features, longer range, bigger, for $25k less. Also, KZread is a buzz with the sub $30 Equinox. They also have the relaunch of the Bolt upcoming, so I again respectfully do not agree with the perspective of them being over priced. Thirdly, we drive long distances routinely and have yet to encounter a problem. I will concede it does take some planning not needed for an ICE car. Thx for watching.

@@thenetworkarchitectchannel I own an AWD Lux3 Cadillac Lyriq that I waited 22 months for before buying one off a dealer’s lot to get the COSTCO $1,000 discount when it was going to take Cadillac 12 weeks to ship an already built car. I charge at home, don’t take very many rode trips and love the car, but GM/Cadillac could not have planned for more of a botched rollout of a new model if they had spent years planning for the best one in automotive history. Both of my nearby dealers one have one EV tech resulting in long scheduling waits for service. If their tech is out sick, you just have to wait, even if your car is a brick in your driveway. Both dealers said they have been looking to hire but can’t find any qualified techs and few experienced techs are willing to be trained on EVs. Perhaps the dealers are too cheap to pay enough? Who knows. It is not my job to find an answer, but the vehicle owners pay the price of poor planning by GM on getting an installed base of techs before the release of a new propulsion system and selling cars with so many software problems that the few techs out there are overwhelmed with warranty work. EVs don’t fit all use cases and it makes sense to offer all forms of cars and let the market determine the ratio of ICE, EV, HEV and hydrogen. An EV fits for me. And yes, I have bought first year models before and knew what I was getting into. I just hate it when clueless top management makes decisions that defy rationality and ruin a potentially good product.

Yeah agree with @thenetworkarchitectchannel on his comments. GM's plan from the beginning was to start Ultium from the top down, which kills any idea that EV's aren't capable - that's why the Hummer is their halo car. Who doubts EV's are capable anymore? That used to be a thing. Cheap everyday EV's are coming very soon. As for long distance charging infrastructure not being there that's simply not true for both CCS and Tesla. Go watch Out of Spec's cross country truck race and tell me there's no charging. As for Ultium being out of date another weird comment - GM has a long partnership with LG (a S Korean company) on the Bolt, and a CATL partnership would run into a little trouble with having China sourced batteries and technology now wouldn't it? As for EV repair technicians that's baloney, my Bolt gets service at my dealer from their fully certified techs.

The average new vehicle cost in the US is about 48 grand. So GM EVs seem to fall into average new car costs, especially with Federal and state incentives.

The Optiq is on the same platform as the Equinox EV--not the Blazer EV. The Lyriq and Blazer EV are on basically the same platform.

@@thenetworkarchitectchannelyou’re right. My sister in law’s sister and her husband just bought a Lyriq and it’s not small by any means. In my opinion the Cadillac Lyriq is the most beautiful and most luxurious electric vehicle available in America. Gm nailed this vehicle! And it is a Cadillac in every way that counts. Next is the Lucid Aire. That’s just my opinion.

Is this an ad for GM vehicles?? They are top heavy in expensive iron... All of their Tech is old school... New vehicles already getting bad reviews... Their strategy is profits but with this poor of a lineup they cannot succeed... They eliminated at least 90% of all car buyers with their pricing...

Cadillac Lyriq is the best seller in the segment and receives great reviews from unbiased entities. Chevrolet Blazer is showing signs of following the same trend as the #1 seller soon. Chevrolet Equinox EV is the most affordable EV in its class with a starting price of $27k, the same as a new Honda Civic. Equinox 1LT will be available by the end of the year. *gm* is laughing. You’re a clown 🤡
