I remember a lecture where Finegold spent a lot of time about knowing how to checkmate with all combinations of pieces so that in times when you are dealing with seconds, you can still mate a person trying to flag you. Unless its rook and queen, I think I'll just flag and lose. Eternally stuck in 800 because that is the least of my worries.

There is another explanation why people vote for Trump: for a number of years, probably going back all the way to Reagan (who, contrary to popular belief, was one of the worst presidents ever) politicians on both sides have been increasingly representing those who pay them instead of those who vote for them. Trump has at least one quality, that of being able to read the feelings of a crowd, and assume the role of the hero who will put things back in place, when the USA was a functioning democracy. Of course, he does not intend to ever do any such thing, even if in his dreams he sees himself as the reincarnation of a great man, he is too lazy to follow properly any one of his projects, which explains the never ending series of business failures. If reelected, he will play even more golf than in his first mandate.

@@harbard642Trump is extreme? The US Government is extreme. Obama had a secret kill list which included US citizens. He executed US citizens by drone with no due process. Bush invaded Iraq for no reason. Several administrations funded Saddam Hussein and gave him chemical weapons. Hillary destroyed Libya for no reason and destabilized Africa. It has over $35 trillion in debt. The US government banned cannabis and won’t stop the flow of fetanyl into our cities. Trump was actually standard, maybe even a bit tame, it’s just that if you watch TV you don’t know anything.

When you have one candidate that is completely normal and another who spent years lying about elaction fraud, is working with a foreign enemy who is helping provide propaganda etc, is a sex offender, under numerous indictments, is actively working to damage the constitution (free press, free speech, election integrity and access, etc), is working to become dictator, etc etc, and is propped up by pure propaganda, then absolutely it's a matter of intelligence. Trump has utter contempt for all his voters. He's only in it for himself. The ultimate cynic.

​@@Keef335 no. Go read the filings in the sixty or so "election fraud" lawsuits. They are public record. You'll find that Trump never had any evidence of fraud, and didn't present any. He didn't even ALLEGE fraud, because the had no evidence. He's been lying since before the 2016 election. Putin helped him win. He has contempt for his voters. He's changed his mannerisms and speech to seem more dumb, knowing that his voters fall for it. Almost all the propaganda published by Fox is coming straight from the Kremlin. He's being working to damage the constitution, and has seriously damaged the strength of the US. He tried to steal an election and is trying again. He added more to the national debt than all the prior presidents combined. He's a sex offender. He's a fraud. All the evidence is out there. You just have to avoid the propaganda. All together I'd say he's earned hatred and then some. But it's too much effort to check facts. Especially when you prefer the lies.

Noem did not kill her dog for no reason. It attacked and killed many of her neighbors chickens. It was an out of control animal, and needed to be put down. People who have dogs as pets, folks who live in the city or suburb do not understand what a dog is to a person living in a rural area as a farmer. They are utilitarian not so much a pet. It was a hunting dog that was not a good hunting dog. This is just culture shock from people who don't know what it is like living off of the land.

It's true that working dogs gone rogue are routinely taken around the back of the shed, Old Yeller style. And it should be the owner who takes responsibility for doing it as quickly and painlessly as possible. But it's still a weird flex.

What's really dumb is voting for Biden. Stick to chess.
