Glowe Voltage - Series 2 tested! Does it live up to the hype?? New Car Audio Lifepo4 Battery.

Ғылым және технология

In this video we run high current testing on one of the new Glowe Voltage Series 2 batteries. We demonstrate the ability to easily hold over 400a of sustained output, and discuss a bit where the ratings we use come from.

This battery is essential for small cars like a 370z

I drive a 2011 GMC Sierra that has the ECU regulating voltage situation will this effect batteries ability or should I run a bigger alternator with the module that bypasses the ecu

What do you generally charge at? If the ECU keeps you at 13.5+ you should be fine - but anything controlled like that can be iffy. I’ve seen it so it is alternator doesn’t even produce power of voltage is above 13v, and in that case would recommend a bypass for sure. 💯

What the actual wattage both batteries can support on let’s say a 240/320a alt without have voltage drop? I’m referring to the S1 and S2 models.

A series 1 provides 450a. With a 240a alt, assuming 180a was extra, you'd have 630a. This is in the range of what most 10k-12k amps require. With the series 2, same situation you'd have over 700a and be well suited to run a Taramps 15k.

How do I figure how much reserve I need for my system. Planning for an 8k and 1 ohm plus another 1k for mids. Trying to decide between Series 1 vs 2. Planning to do HO alt in future as well

I’d go with the S2 to make sure your power demands are coveted. Lithium is a bit different than AGM so capacity isn’t quite as important as it was previously. A S2 has the ability to discharge more power all at once as well as recharge more rapidly than the S1. S1 is fantastic for a lot of our led customer base that need to have their lights going for many hours without charging in between. If you check out our previous videos we have a demo of a S2 as a stand alone battery on 8500w. Not only does it support the setup - we can turn the car off to cut out alternator support and still not fall below 12v going full tilt.

This is a very impressive battery, so running 2 of them in parallel I can expect to be able to draw 600+ amps? Can I use a bigger alternator (370)?

We’ve actually gotten gear that lets us test a bit higher - and once these are warmed up you can expect to get over 500 amps of current over 12v. Is the 8k @ 1 ohm? If you’re running at .5 I could see it being an issue, but if at 1 or higher - there’s definitely a mystery to solve.

Yes. This is battery only. Alternators can be all over the place so any power added from your alt is bonus power on top of these.

The S2 isn't a replacement for the S1, and the S1 are definitely still being made! The S1 has almost twice the capacity (in amp hours) as the S2. Happy to hear it's doing well! Would love to see a video.
