Being a guy, I guess I'm not suppsed to cry but this song makes me cry also. The memories of the girl I loved and eventually married all come back listening to Gloria's music. The best line is "When I have you close to me, the feeling's so sublime." Music like this wouldn't make it on the radio nowadays. Her feelings were too deep. Not superficial all about money, cars and sex. It's a sign of the times, though.

Gloria Estefan was one of the best singers & songwriters from the 80s. Gloria Estefan put out some great songs. This is one of my favorites from Gloria Estefan

This was such a golden period for female artists. Lisa Stansfield, Sade and Gloria Estefan, great artists singing great songs. What I'd give to be back there now, a better time to be alive.

The truth Manuel, I grew up on Gloria even till the 90s I had her Spanish cassettes and CDs. Today I still have a Spanish CD of hers, I blast it in the mornings while driving to work, the mambo and salsa energise me before I step into the office.

Its true! She is truly an icon.

As a professional musician myself, a songwriter and producer… This song still stands the test of time imo… Her voice is so pure and beautiful and it’s not necessary for young singers today to always be riffing and trilling like Mariah , ( I love Mariah btw ) but she did that extremely well and not many can… find your own style, find your lane, do what YOU do well, not what others do well.!!! Look how successful Shaina was…she was smart.!!! Never stressed her range hitting high notes… her songs were upbeat and positive… her voice was solid, of course being ridiculously gorgeous helped too… “extract” tiny bits and pieces from the artists you admire… then just be you🎶😇💜✌️✅

I have struggled since I was four. Was abandoned by my parents at 8 and by countless other people between then and now. I was 16 when this song came out and I had just lost the first person who ever cared about me unconditionally - and she was ripped away. She was older and looked a lot like Gloria Estefan, actually the same age back then. There was nothing romantic about it. I had been alone all my life and this person helped me like no one else, kept me from ending my life many times just because I knew her - even after she was gone her love and care kept me from ending myself. Unfortunately the loss of this person was the next in the neverending series of losses and abandonments. Still this song always ALWAYS reminds me of her, of that time and bring me bittersweet memories - the only time I ever felt genuinely cared about. Yet the contrast between that and what I have never had rips me apart. I have a long, very complex relationship with this song. But it always was and always shall be my most loved and important song. I am still alone in life, left to feel my entire existence is a mistake. Yet I have this song. Life is confusing. Life is agony incarnate for me. Yet I still have this song. Thank you, Gloria Estefan. ❤

There is Someone who thinks you are worth everything, and He died on a cross to prove that you are priceless. His name is Jesus and you can find His love for you in John 3:16 in the Bible. He also said that He will always be with you and never leave you in Matt 28 towards the end of the chapter. He wants to be your closest Friend and your Savior. I'm so happy this exists. I was born in 1987 to my 38 year old Mother and 39 year old father who thought they'd never have a kid at that age. I grew up the luckiest child because they spoiled the F out of me lol, but I inherited their kind genes. This song takes me back to my mom cleaning house and blasting Gloria. I love her and adore her and when I made it big i introduced her to technology in my early 20's, an iPod, docking station and a new way to share what we both loved- Music. I'll never NOT love this song because it reminds me of my Mom

It’s 2024 and I am gonna be 48 this year. Still remember the first time I heard this song as a young boy.

I really grew up in the 80's...raised my children in the place I grew up (in the country) had finished cosmetology school, married a man I loved, tried to go to business school, made new friends, ...life was pretty good....I miss alot of things about that time and I have sweet memories to look back on...no regrets♡

Claire, tears in my eyes after reading your comment. My dad passed in 2000 and my mum in 2009. I turn 60 next month and miss them so much, but I am grateful for the lovely upbringing I had. My mum always used to say that there is always someone worse off than you and to count your blessings. I find myself thinking and saying them a lot in the difficult times we live in. We had an Austin A35 with a hand brake on the right and a turning handle to put in the front when it wouldn't start! Wonderful memories of my dad trying to teach me to drive in it and it stalling on a hill near Beeston Castle in Cheshire and my dad going mad with me as we were miles from home. I did learn with an instructor in the end! The music takes me back to sweet moments in my life. Take care. Regards Jane

Claire, what a lovely wee post. Made me smile and reminisce to when my parents were alive & the laughs we had when I was a kid. Like you I would like to go back just once to give them a last cuddle (due to working on oil platform I was at work on both occasions when they passed away, also when my brother committed suicide shortly afterward, all three of which crushed me at the time). Always loved Gloria Estafan from that period and still love to play her music now to transport my mind back to those good times.

I think you just broke my heart Rico😭 After my mother’s passing I remember telling a business associate that there will never be another woman in this world that could ever break your heart than your mothers passing😭😭. He just looked at me and broke down in tears because his mom just passed and said that was the most true thing EVER!! It was so odd and I felt horrible because this was a business meeting and when we were making small talk it had just come out and I Will never forget his face and that was 15 years ago in the middle of a business meeting at my office and I’m talking about a guy in his 40s that was it I knew it was true also it was like confirmation😩

I miss my dad too. The way he would hold my mum and slow dance with her. We don’t listen to music anymore. Except for when I stay up late, remembering the beautiful times, and cry my heart out. The pain is so unbearable sometimes.

Same here I was born in 81 and grew up listening to her music even then I recognized her talent, hauntingly beautiful music with a very deep powerful meaning. it's takes a special kind of music to give me chills and stop me in my tracks and her music does it to me every time it's like my life flashes before my eyes. Indeed music like this is rare nowadays for the most part today's music is garbage mainly because Romance seems to be dead these days and what we're left is a bunch of arrogant narcissists singing about cars, sex, drugs, money yada yada yada smh Thank goodness we have KZread and can take a trip back in time to when music was actually music and watch the familiar videos we grew up watching.

Gloria was no Diva with a golden larynx...but she was an exceptional songwriter, the arrangements beautifully done, and her delivery was always spot on. I've been listening to her music for getting on for 30 years and no plans to stop anytime soon. This song is the Crown Jewel in a chest full of treasure....along with "Anything for You".

I miss music like this...heartfelt, from the soul. Hard to find these days.

Gloria is the ultimate when it comes to being a performer. Beautiful singer, beautiful songwriter, awesome person and just plain beautiful.

Definitely one of the best 80's singer. So underrated to my opinion. She wasn't provocative and had class.

Can't shake Gloria's voice, it's the best. Ever since I heard it as a young boy shopping for plants with my mum in the early 80's.

LOVE Gloria Estefan's voice and her music. And this is my all-time favorite of all her songs. I can listen to this one over and over and over again and I never get sick of it. Just fantastic.

My mum raised me on Gloria, so all her songs fill me with a sweet nostalgia for being a child, I then heard this in a Japanese Convenience Store when I was drunk and lived there, and adds another layer to the nostalgia, now all I can do is smile and cry when I hear her, nostalgia is a weird emotion. 28 from the UK

I was born in the early 80s. 1983 to be exact. If I had a time machine, I would love to go back in that era when our family was still together.

Fantastic song, I still have the CD I bought in 1989 that Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine made with this song on it.

Takes me back to my youth and the awesome music and songwriting from the 80’s. A simple and less complicated time in life. Love Gloria’s music!

Blessed to have lived the 80s when music like this touched the very soul and still does. To me there's no other diva like Gloria, 2023 and her songs are still on repeat.

One of the most beautiful love songs ever written and recorded. There is something so mesmerizing, hypnotic about the buildup on the intro, and it just takes your heart deeper and deeper into paradise all the way through. I also love this in Portuguese.
