It's funny they were still using that version of the national anthem in 1993. I suspect it was 15 years old or more at the time.

I always thought Global use to show Night Walk and Night Ride back in those days instead of signing off. They should bring those back on. Nothing better than having someone go around downtown Toronto with a camera listening to Jazz music.

The anthem . . witht he high jumper and teh baby at the end - burned into my brain from my childhood. Amazing. this channel (Retroontario) rocks!!!!

I suppose listing off the transmitters for the areas the SRG SSR or other networks serve probably seemed too technical to list.

Is it me, or is that the Hartland covered bridge in New Brunswick at 1:17? Didn't think they meant *that* far east...

@ccchamoxa I remember that too!! I couldn't remember for the life of me what it was called and had to look it up. The series if you can really call it a series was called Night Moves/Night Walk/Night Music which ran from 86 to 93..

what is the name of the piece of music playing in the background (the instrumental piece before O Canada), its been bothering me to know what the name is, since I was a kid listening to it as i fell asleep with the TV on...... Thanks!!!!!

Venom011 well it is same, in a way that they both used the 1979 O Canada in their sign off ever since its release.

I thought Global still has sign offs and not 24 hours as a result. What Canadian major networks are 24 hours?

@@BrownBrother27 Ici Radio-Canada Télé and Noovo (formerly V) sign off, but not with the national anthem. The former just switch broadcast to Ici RDI, whereas Noovo plays the logo loop with relaxing piano music.

Anyone by chance know the music in the sign off sequence?
